Yep, that goalie who has gone 5 seasons now since putting up decent numbers, all while being one of the highest paid goalies in the league, who will remain on that contract for another few years, is definitely getting a 1st and change as a return.

Too bad John Gibson doesn't waive for Toronto or any Canadian team. He's an American who only wants to play in the States. That's already been reported numerous times.

Who said anything about definitely? At the start of the season Gibson was tossed around quite a bit and hearing high returns, not saying he should or would get a high return, but you know just considering options. Gibson is, in my opinion an all-star goalie, but playing 5 seasons or whatever on a terrible Ducks team has hurt him for sure. Imagine him on Colorado, Tampa or Vegas, he would be in Vezina discussions for sure.

This is always what people say. Its not Gibson, its the team. When you look at it though, Gibson hasn't even been the best goalie on those terrible Ducks teams and he hasn't even faced a higher average of competition than the guys playing better than him. He's just been bad regardless of the team in front of him. There's absolutely nothing we can point to and say 'he'll do better somewhere else'.

Factually incorrect across the board there bud. He's been the dedicated starter here for years, meaning he pulls the difficult assignments over his backups. If he wasn't as good as his backups, we wouldn't continue starting him 50+ games a season every year. League worst defense last season and a chunk of the season before that too (post TDL). Prior to that TDL, he walked into the all-star break with a 0.924SV%. know what kind of damage it does to team moral when the GM says he's breaking up the band?

He's currently sitting at a 0.908 and 6th in the league for GSAX on the season behind a defense that's starting 2.5-3 rookies on a given night (counting Drysdale as half a rookie since he's barely played for two years), he's a great goalie.

It's funny you came to defend him with this because I had this exact debate with you. I pulled the game logs for Stolarz and him and found that Stolarz on average faced better teams based on the standings across the previous 2 seasons even if he did play fewer games. We've been there and done that yet you still didn't learn. It's the same non-sense. You are also doing some funny stuff to get Gibson to 6th in the league at GSAx, he's 20th on moneypuck (23rd at a per game played mark) and has been dropping ever since the first few weeks. Time will take care of that one like it always does with Gibson. To put that into context, Peter Mrazek currently sits above him there, has had good seasons more recently than Gibson and is on a better contract. No one is calling for him to be worth a 1st.
