I like Brannstrom but the Canucks have enough LHDs already and Tocchet doesn’t like putting two lefty’s on the same pairing (something he’s already gonna have to do on one pair when Soucy is back)

Forsberg > Allen

Allen stats in Ottawa would be absolutely terrible

Sens goalies will be fine as it is when the coaching staff makes them play "the right way", if it's still possible

Years of Dorion and DJ Smith are not easy to recover from

I understand the sentiment but I don't understand the argument. Are you saying Canadiens Goalies are "better coached" or Canadiens play better defense in front of their goalies?

Habs will likely ask for a 2nd for Allen and they would accept a third.
But if it’s the only offer they receive, I think they accept and move on

Brannstrom not worth a second. Canucks have lots of depth at LHD. You might consider the other teams needs before coming up with an idea.

You have no idea how hard it has been to play the goalie position in the Dorion and DJ Smith era... These guys had no clue about defensive structure and 2-way play, it's almost like this team has been scoring many goals in their own net. The Habs are playing hard and sometimes struggle due to lack of talent and experience, totally normal during a rebuild. Sens is/was a collection of individual talent playing against the opposition AND themselves.

Take Korpisalo for example, 0.913 SV% in Columbus last season (and 0.921 in LA), has been lights out most of his games in Ottawa and has a 0.891 SV%, it's that ridiculous. Any goalie playing for Ottawa has a minus 0.015 SV% handicap at the very least. Jacques Martin, Alfredsson and company are working hard at the moment to rectify years of bad habits and not playing the right way.

Maybe the Canucks don't need him but any team that would like to improve their LD would be smart to acquire a cost controlled 2-way D-man like Brannstrom. He's not available at the moment though, Chabot is still injured and Hamonic is not good anymore so they only have 6 NHL D-men counting Chabot and Brannstrom

Interesting perspective. When I look at the group of players I am surprised though. Sanderson, Chychrun, Zub, Chabot. These guys "should" be a top defensive core. Do you think the difference is a guy like Savard. Old vet who is charismatic enough in both his play and his character to drag them into the fight every night?

He's not a fast skater but he's smart and efficient. Speed is sometimes more about how you scan and process than about how fast you move. Josh Anderson for example is one of the fastest skaters and slowest processors on the Habs.

Kovacevic would be the guy I'd target from the Habs, don't need Savard

Seriously, even Sanderson, Chychrun, Zub and Chabot, Brannstrom and Jacob Bernard-Docker are pretty decent hockey players on their own. This will all become clear the more and more the new coaching staff work on fixing the team as a whole.

Tkachuk - Norris - Giroux
Joseph - Stutzle - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Tarasenko
Crookshank - Kastelic - Smejkal

Sanderson - Chychrun
Chabot - Zub
Brannstrom - JBD

Kubalik is not even needed. This roster should easily be a playoffs team. Sure, Chabot and Pinto haven't really been there this season but every team has to deal with injuries, etc. They have well enough depth to go through that
