Why would either team do this? Colorado could get better value elsewhere and the last thing the Habs need is another LHD.

That’s horrendous, they traded Newhook for a 1st and 2nd Byram is worth significantly more than that, significantly and you’re willing to accept a cheap pending bad fit UFA and a throw away pick. Wow just wow.

Moving 22yr old top 4 dmen that have proven they can beast at the highest levels when it counts most ie SCF is something you don’t do based off a revolving dcorp lineup in December unless you are getting something significant in turn.

Newhook never dominated in cup finals and never established himself in a top 6 role. Byram is an actively good top 4 dman and dman take longer to hit their ceilings unless they are named Makar.
