Description
1.) Granlund has been good. I see the bruins or avs making a big push for him, as it's becoming more and more clear the guins just weren't a good fit. Im having trouble with the value of this trade since the avs dont have a second. What would you think of the value, how would you do the trade?

2.) Duclair has been hot and cold, and at times really seems like he is fighting the puck. Right now I would take a third. Similar to Granlund I would be fine keeping Duclair as he really seems to mesh with some of the younger guys. I feel like the islanders could be a sneaky good fit, but of course they are missing the pick that would make the trade the easiest. How would you manufacture?

3.) Barabonov has been better for the sharks than I think the value we would get for him tdl, not sure I'd want to trade unless it's a slight overpayment.

4.) Ferraro, as they said on SJHN don't trade unless its a clear overpayment. We don't have another defenseman on the sharks who can play that much. Ferraro wants to stay, is a good leader, and will have a positive impact on developing players. I think he can find a new level if he is finally put in an appropriate role.

I think Granlund can definitely get SJS a 1st with how he's been producing this year but it would be a team that sees a need for a playmaker in the 2C spot.
If Colorado decides to put Rantanen and Lehkonen with him on the 2nd, pairing up the Finns, it's not a terrible thing to take a chance on.
SJS could probably get a little more by taking Johansen back from Colorado giving them even more cap space

hes so fun to watch, incredible work by Grier, especially if he can turn him into a first. Then we get 2 firsts and out from under the karlsson salary two years earlier.

If Rantanen's production kicks back up (like it seems to be), he's going to want his top line spot back. And Lehkonen is out for a while. I do like your idea though.
Also keep in mind the slim, but still possible chance of Landeskog returning.

Overall, I honestly don't know my opinion on this trade. Listen to another avs fan

At that price, I think the Isles would be silly not to accept. Realistically, how far would they be moving back from their 2nd to San Jose's 3rd? Mid-50s to mid-60s, so maybe 15 spots at most? Seems like a fair price for 20 or so games for a decent middle-6 guy who is kind of inconsistent.

Totally agree on this point. The reason he's struggled so much is he hasn't had a consistent D-partner. Last year he played 95+ minutes with SEVEN different players. This year (with all the injuries) he's had a revolving door of d-partners as well.

As opposed to his breakout years in '20-21 & '21-22 where he played over 79% and 76% of those respective seasons with burns, having a positive +/- at even strength. Even last year, one of their worst season's in Sharks history, when he was paired with Karlsson they were an even +/- at even strength. I think he's so much more useful deployed as the responsible half of an offensive pairing. Would love to see him and Levshunov paired together

Yeah I'm not a big fan of putting your 2 best forwards on a line together on winning teams. I have always really liked how Chicago split Kane and Toews to drive their own lines and put them together when you need a goal, I think Colorado should do the same.
Also if they include Johansen it would clear up 4mil for next season and ease some of the headaches with the cap

I kind of thought colorado might be pursuing him next year, mostly because i'd thought san jose would be wanting to retain on a UFA like duclair or barabanov this year and colorado can't afford a full salary.

COL needs goals coming from 2C and 2nd line. At this point, I see Ryjo and Granlund as basically the same level of production and neither is the 2C that makes a serious contender.

It’s official SJS fans have become MTL clones. Granlund can’t skate or at least to the Avs level all you had to do was watch the game on Sunday. Nobody is paying a 1st for Granlund. Easy no from COL.

Pass from Colorado at that price. 2nd plus a mid-tier prospect is about the right value and even then I don't think Colorado will be in the market for another band aid 'solution'.

lmao granny is just under point per game, plays pk and pp and he is on the sharks. AND you'd get him at 2.5 for two years. Yesterday he was on a line with Zetterlund and there was basically no even strength in the game.

I don't think so at all. Granlund has been the best player other than Hertl (who I think is playing his best hockey since 2019, if not better)

Duclair has been a great locker room guy but he's a bit inconsistent on the ice. Looks like a true top 6 guy some nights and completely lost the next night

id say granlund is one of our more consistent players. and looking lost is more of a symptom of the team some nights.

Who cares, on a team that was a playoff contender he was done. He plays 21 minutes a night to get that “just under a ppg”. He gets absolutely and I mean absolutely destroyed at 5v5 and even strength 41.1CF, and 42.3CF, pair that with a crazy 103.5 PDO and you have a turd that looks kinda shiny. Yeah that’s an easy pass all day, but go ahead and tell me how this 30game sample size of inflated TOI and luck is worth overpaying when his metrics say different.

Yeah man during his time in Pittsburgh he was the only one struggling for sure, and the moved past it. Definitely not a club issue. Again, hes on the sharks, hes getting all that time cuz he can play all situations. No one on the team is gonna have better than 55% CF because we field 5 bottom pair defensemen everynight. Hes producing despite the sharks not because of them -_-.

That’s fair but he would get his ice time cut by at least 25% playing on a team like COL and get zero PP1 time, COL doesn’t trade first round picks they did it one time under the current regime when they got caught short in the goalie carousel. Nothing against Granlund really except that he’s getting premium ice time and is part of the reason SJS is so bad in shot share and that’s not a good combination why would a team pay a 1st rd pick knowing a guy gets destroyed is going to have a reduced role and even at 50% retention this isn’t a 23yr old Brandon Hagel making $1.5M. COL I’m convinced is going to do something at 2C but they aren’t going to do a guy that smacks of RyJo 2.0.

He might not be a good fit for Colorado but he is not part of the reason the sharks get folded lmao. He would get less ice time for sure, but he also would also have more support than he is currently getting. Granlund is doing his best and driving play on that line despite a lack of support (him and zett really push, but are often the only two positive sharks when they are on the ice). We really stumble in transition because we cannot move the puck out of our zone. That doesn't have anything to do with granlund, if we had an NHL d-core we'd likely be middle of the pack. Once couture is back we should be able to more accurately determine Granny's trade value, but this team is bottle necked by the d fence and injuries
