How doesn't it solve any of their problems. They need to win more faceoffs and better 2way forwards in the dzone. RNH supplants Okposo on the 4th line moving forward when Kulich Rosen, Savoie are all ready. Don't see how this effects the future negatively at all

This is all theoretical but I can’t see the oilers retaining and mad respect to nuge I think it’s a very fair offer

This trade gets rid of Olofsson (Good) Krebs (shrug) but at the expense of Mitts and a first (which will be unprotected and a top 7 pick in 2025 with this roster, so - not good) for a 30 year old Nuge who won't produce at the same pace in Buffalo and a disaster of a Campbell contact.

Long term, I think you're doing the Oil a massive favor and not addressing the elephant on the blue line.

Although the value may be fair the oilers aren't in a position to trade a guy like nuge considering the impact he has in edmonton, he's a key part of our core as we need a guy like him for pp, pk, and team friendly top 6. It would help oil with future cap issues but take a hit at their chances at a cup this year and Leon and McDavid said all playoffs and off-season its cup or bust.

As an Oilers fan, this is a horrible trade for the Sabers. They need help on defense and goaltending. Campbell ain't the answer for them. Not to mention his anchor of a contract.

Don't need a 70 - 90 point Nuge. 40-60 points while being responsible in his own end and leadership is all they need, anything else is a bonus. I don't see RNH dropping off a cliff in 1 or 2 years, he's currently on pace for 82 points, and his linemates would be Zach Benson and any one of Kulich, Savoie, Rosen, Greenway, +, so it's not like he's going to be playing with scrubs. The Sabres don't have an elephant on the blue line, their defense has been better this year and 5 of 7 of them are 24 or younger, their goalies are also 24 and 21. If they stopped playing EJ their problem is solved on D. If the Sabres 2025 pick is in the top 10 again they don't deserve to keep it anyway. Mittelstadt is also already replaceable in the Sabres system, he's highly redundant, they don't need to keep him, especially with his contract up at the end of the year

Campbell isn't going to play a game for the Sabres. They also don't need help on D or in net. The Sabres need help scoring and on their PP, and a center who can win the puck in their d zone and move it in transition. Drop EJ from this D core and they've been great. Levi since coming back from Rochester has been dominant and UPL has been a solid goalie

Wow, that's shocking considering how good their forward core is. Cloud and Nuge are both very good defensive centers for what its worth.

You need a top 4 shut down dman, veteran gritty depth and quality goaltending. This doesn't get you that. I get Nug will help but I think Buffalo would be better just insulating Cozens more by getting a defensive center, which could be had at a far cheaper price.

You say it doesn't negatively affect your future but I look at this as what Ottawa tried to do, traded away multiple top 10 picks to early for players that didn't help nearly as much as they thought they would. Even worst, you're taking a cap dump back that could be in the books till 2030 if they have to buy him out

This does not make our team better. McLeod would be a great addition but RNH doesn't fit anywhere in the forward group and the Oilers would not trade him. McLeod for a 2nd or so is a good trade for both sides

The Sabres don't need dmen or goaltending. They fix their d by not playing EJ and Levi and UPL are doing well.

RNH is one of the best 2 way centers in the league. He's exactly what Buffalo is missing. I don't know how he doesn't fit, he fits better than Mittelstadt who is redundant after Thompson and Cozens.
