It doesn't make sense to trade out roster players, especially young ones that are under team control beyond this year, to bring in Tanev & Lindholm. Instead of adding to what you already have you've now just made marginal upgrades to those positions at the cost of a significant amount of draft capital, and at least Lindholm would be walking at the end of the year.

The Leafs are also going to need every bit of defensive help they can get this postseason, and that means keeping Liljgren too.

I would argue that these would be major upgrades to our d and offense. Both tanev amd linholm are bug impact players. Tanev is a better version of mccabe on the right side. If we're discussing getting every bit of help for the playoffs, I would also prefer tanev to liljegren for a postseason run. I also think these are middling assetts we'd be giving up and parting with them for impact players is exactly what we need to do.

I would argue that the value is about right. The assets are the type Calgary is looking for if they were to tank and look to retool. I'd be surprised if they find better elsewhere at the deadline but you never know.

There’s no hate I love the leafs but why would the leafs trade for a guy they have no intention on resigning? Where would he play with Matthew’s and Tavares on the team? 3C doesn’t seem like a smart move and they’ll never spend a first on a forward this year just isn’t gonna happen there’s a 50/50 chance they spend 1 first this year and if they do it will be on a defender it’s the only move that makes sense
