Folks need to realize they are not getting Buch without giving up something that hurts. Nothing in there hurts enough.

I get what you're saying and don't think that's enough for him, but lets not pretend a 1st, Rasmussen, and a solid D prospect aren't good pieces to get back.

So-called "good" pieces ain't gonna do the trick. A pick deferred 18 months isn't tempting, Rasmussen is a sloooooooow 3rd liner and AJ is a puny Dman who's only like the 6th or 7th best Red Wings D prospect. One bottom 6 player, one bottom pairing prospect and a deferred pick that will probably be in the 20s. Exactly none of that hurts one bit.

You highly undervalue both of the players in this. Can you even name 6 Wings D prospects to make that claim?

Yes, I can. Are we gonna pretend he's not behind a load of D prospects there? Not really sure how I've undervalued those two, but feel free to offer a rebuttal. Any way you slice it, that offer isn't very tempting at all.

I've already said it's not enough. I agree with you on that point. This return is more than Detroit traded for DeBrincat. Buchnevich got a 2nd and Blais the first time he was traded and has improved since then, but not to superstar return levels. 2nd gets upgraded to a 1st. Blais at the time of trade had a career high of 15 points in 36 games. Rasmussen has 13 in 28 right now, and had 29 in 56 games last year, which is higher than any season Blais has ever had. He's a younger controllable C who is strong in the dot and plays well in his own end and kills penalties. And you get a solid D prospect.

Him being behind prospects on a team with one of the best D prospect pools in the NHL doesn't mean he's bad first off. Second, he's behind Edvinsson who went 4th overall and Sandin-Pellika, who was supposed to go top 10 and fell to them, and arguably Wallinder. Go ahead, name me more prospects better than him.

Again, idk if this is enough for him. But holy cow do you come across as clueless

Dude, you agreed its insufficient and basically repeated half my points, so how exactly am I clueless? Rasmussen and Johansson (who has a lower ceiling than guys like Buium and Gibson... I never said he was bad) are bottom half of the lineup players. Buch is a top line player, and what the Blues paid for him is entirely irrelevant.

And yeah, the Wings are loaded with promising young players, so offering up a couple of mid guys that don't fit the Blues needs isn't compelling. Which, again, I thought we already agreed on.

It's a really strange flex to agree with someone and then tell him he's clueless.

You misunderstand what agreeing means, and that's ok it can be hard. Just because I said I don't think it's enough doesn't mean I don't think it's close.

Let's circle back to the DeBrincat trade then. He got a 1st, 4th, AHL player, and Kubalik.

Buchnevich should return more, but not much. He's older and a free agent after next season. So you get a 1st, Rasmussen who is better than a 4th + AHL player. Arguably more valuable than Kubalik based on this season and last season combined. And a prospect with upside.

Let's look at Bo Horvat. Coming off a similar season to what Buchnevich has put up, his return: a 1st, Anthony Beauvillier who's numbers are better than Rasmussen by a little, but only plays Wing and is older. And Aatu Raty.

This deal isn't that far off. You're not gunna like the return for Buchnevich.

Dude. You keep falling back on comps. Every team is different, every situation is different. You can't just pile up generic "value" because not every team wants the same things in return. And the 1sts in those trades weren't deferred, either. The Horvat 1st was in one of the strongest, deepest drafts in modern NHL history. DeBrincat's trade from Chicago returned 7OA. These comps don't even comp.

Regardless, I have no idea why you're being hostile. I'm talking about the trade bits and bobs, you keep trying to insult me (while making up new word definitions no less). Maybe try decaf or something.

Detroit wasn't a playoff team at the start of the season, so thinking Yzerman is going to try to buy his way into the playoffs is completely nonsensical.

Is it? He's already showed his hand by trading a 1st for Debrincat and signing Kane. There are spots open in the East and the wings are right there. They have a massive stockpile of prospects that look to be almost NHL ready and they have no roster spots. I know being a Wings fan leads you to doom and gloom thoughts, but this team can contend. Maybe not for the Cup, but the playoffs are definitly not out of the question.
