Full Tear Down

Créé par: Lancebmx
Équipe: 2023-24 Flames de Calgary
Date de création initiale: 4 déc. 2023
Publié: 6 déc. 2023
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Will never happen but they could get a ton of good young pieces and be a cup contender in 3-5 years. This is only if they wanted to tear it down to the studs, likely they get good enough returns for their pending UFAs that aren't willing to sign to be competitive again in a couple years if not next year.
Transactions
1.
CGY
  1. Lundkvist, Nils
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (DAL)
Détails additionnels:
Trade made in December.

2024 1st is Top 10 Protected.
DAL
  1. Tanev, Christopher (2 250 000 $ retained)
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
Dallas solidifies their D core with the addition of Tanev. Could be a good partner and mentor for Harley. Would allow Hakanpaa to move back down to the third pairing.

Tanev signs an extension with Dallas 3.25M x 2 Years.
2.
CGY
  1. Ceulemans, Corson

  3. Sillinger, Cole
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (CBJ)
Détails additionnels:
Top 10 Protected First Round Pick

Trade made in January 2024

Blue Jackets make a little surge and Jarmo brings in a player that can help them now and in the future.

The pieces Columbus gives up are not devastating for them but could work very well for Calgary in the future.
CBJ
  1. Lindholm, Elias
Détails additionnels:
Lindholm agree to an extension with Columbus; 8.75M x 8 Years.

Contract is front loaded with a full NMC in the first 4 years. Turns into a 10 team trade list for 2 years, then 15 team trade list in the final 2 years.

Bringing in Lindholm now instead of waiting will have multiple benefits for Columbus. Obviously it makes the current team better right off the bat. It could also help elevate Johnny and Laine to play at the level they should be. There will be instant chemistry with Lindholm and Gaudreau as well.
In the future, he will be able to shelter and mentor Fantili and then slide into the second line roll.
With the contract being front loaded, it should be easier to move if there is ever a desire in the latter years.
3.
CGY
  1. Hague, Nicolas
  2. Howden, Brett
  3. Korczak, Kaedan
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (VGK)
  5. Choix de 2e ronde en 2025 (VGK)
  6. Choix de 3e ronde en 2026 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Calgary gets a replacement player in Hague who can play in the bottom 4 immediately.
Korczak is a young player who could also slot into the line up and has potential to be a top 4 defenseman.
Howden is just a cap dump to help Vegas fit the extension in next season.
VGK
  1. Greer, AJ
  2. Hanifin, Noah (2 475 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Vegas brings in one of Eichel's close friends in Hanifin and add someone who can replace Martinez in the future.

This move would make an already extremely dangerous Vegas team even more deadly.

Greer to replace Howden for this season.

Hanifin signs extension with Vegas; 7M x 8 Years
4.
CGY
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (PIT)
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2026 (SJS)
Détails additionnels:
Calgary gets a young defenseman who should get a good chance to play there. Likely bottom pairing but has top 4 potential.

Adding picks to help with the rebuild.
PIT
  1. Mangiapane, Andrew (2 900 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Pittsburgh received a good two way winger who I feel would excel on Malkin's wing. Strong defensive game with scoring ability. Overpaid right now at full salary but at 2.9M is a bargain. Extra year of term so he's not a rental.

Not sure on Rakell's status. A player with salary could possibly come back in this deal, Carter if he waives (I doubt) or maybe Acciari (I also doubt since he was just signed). Just going to say they make the salary work.
5.
CGY
  1. Garland, Conor
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (VAN)
Détails additionnels:
Flames get a decent but overpaid winger in Garland who is a workhorse. Plays a pretty good two way game and can help shelter some of the younger players expected to be on the roster in the rebuild.
VAN
  1. Dubé, Dillon
Détails additionnels:
Canucks get cap flexibility for now and the future by moving out Garland. They get a cheaper replacement player in Dube who they can choose to re-sign after a trial or let go on free agency.

The Jackets trading any young players or picks for more vets to try to bolster their rancid, aging core would be insane right now.

I don't disagree, but with long term commitments to Johnny and Severson, along with a lack of playoff appearances, Jarmo might have his hand forced if he feels his job is on the line.

Columbus is far too much of a mess to be trading for Lindholm. He will probably end up in Boston or Minnesota.

Selling low on Mangiapane is silly, he's on pace for 45-50 EV points this year. Also Flames ownership hates retaining, they may do it on the pending UFA's since they will only be paying them less than 600k but with Mange they would be be paying him 3.55M to play elsewhere.

Vegas isn't touching their trading anyone off their d-core. They may add to it if Theodore is out until the playoffs but thats about it.

Lucky for us I don't think Jarmo is in I MUST SAVE MY JOB mode. Last thing i saw from him was more i know what is coming and I am not going to destroy a franchise to try and save my ass. AS much hate as he gets i have always got the read Jarmo is a standup guy.

He also has to be able to explain the moves he makes if he decides to pursue another job in the league. Throwing the Jackets another anchor on his way out the door at the cost of multiple future pieces would be very hard to justify. At the moment his moves have been mostly defendable, but just didn't work out the way he hoped they would.

Exactly. All the way back to 2019 his moves make sense. Jones doesn't want to come back ok lets move him out and bring back assets. PLD forces his way out ok lets get Ros and Patty for him. We're not making playoffs ok Send Nicky and Savy out for firsts. Patty needs a setup man move Cam for Jake. Bad still move Max Gus and Gavy for solid returns. Johnny 100 point hockey wants to come east Sign him up because he's johnny f'in hockey. D is trash go get two solid d men to patch that up.
All moves make sense just patty has been ouchie and Johnny went missing for the first 1/4 of the season.

O and as for this trade. If Lindholm wants to sign here why would we pay that cost on a lost season and not just wait uptil the off season and either sign and trade for a mid round pick or just sign him to a 7 year deal.

Even with retention, Dallas cannot make that trade until the 13th of February when they'll have enough cap space. And even in February, Dallas is going to say no unless you swap Hakanpaa with Lundkvist. One is still a young defenseman that can be used with Lindell on the 3rd pair, and one is a $1.5M cap dump that Dallas would need to include in the deal in order to not completely use up every single ounce of remaining cap space.

Make it a 1st & Hakanpaa instead of Lundkvist and Dallas accepts.

That's totally fair I think. Trying to get the best value out of the trade and I figured they would value Hakanpaa more for the playoffs.
