I get that, I just don't think Ken Holland would give up Bourgault, Holloway, and Lavoie, the Oilers barely have any forward prospects to begin with and they're losing their 3 best. What if Allen isn't the savior the Oilers need in net? Holland would lose his job if Allen plays poorly after this trade. Just too much risk and doesn't seem like a Holland move whatsoever

Keep Lavoie and Bourgault, but compensate with picks. It's a win now trade... but realisticly - EDM will likely need to rebuild if they miss the playoff this year.

It cost us a 1st for you guys to eat $6M on Monahan, yet you spend a 1st for us to eat~$18M left on Anderson? and you get Tanev too?

Add 2-3 firsts and then the Flames would gladly accept.

Yeah I can understand that perspective. But who knows, Oilers are on a 4 game win streak and their special teams and defense have gotten significantly better since Knoblauch took over. I'm of the belief that after the coaching change, it's now up to the guys currently on the roster to turn things around, we all know they are capable.

You were pressed by the cap and in a dire situation cap-wise. We helped out and you paid market value for that cap hit.

Now, (see the updated offer in the comments) you get a first for a rental, a second round pick and a couple great prospect to eat a contract that won't matter much while rebuilding and with the cap increasing from 83M$ to 92M$ in the next two years.

Also, habs are still eating Campbell's cap... you can have him instead of Anderson if you prefer... but I figured that with Markstrom, Wolf and Vladar, you don't need another G.

The Flames weren't pressed by the cap. They had the cap space, they just wanted to add Kadri.

Also, I don't see why would the Flames help MTL for a 2nd and a couple of meh prospects only because they have the cap space. If you want to move Anderson be prepared to overpay, because he's a replacement level player getting paid $5.5M.

It's that kind of the same thing? They wanted to add Kadri, but couldn't for cap reasons. To them, Monahan was 6M$ of dead cap.

Well if those assets are Meh for you... then I can't really convince you of the value of this trade.

And that's fine - we are here to agree and disagree, and in this instence, to agree to disagree smile

He’s right though. Calgary could get that same value if they just trade Tanev alone with retention themselves. This is basically just Montreal getting the value of taking on a bad contract while also getting rid of their own for next to nothing.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Holland does. I'm betting on the buyout and so are a lot of Edmonton Fans.

If you fire Holland you can justify it like MIN did i guess
But if you keep your GM and do it fans will riot 100% as they should
Bad Management defines Darryl Katz Legacy and despite all the top players they always fail
