Oh man, the Jackets just aren't retaining on any Elvis trade. Especially not that much. The Campbell deal feels like fair value, same with the Ducks one but it feels like we're targeting the wrong type of d-man. We have great bottom pairing guys we are just missing that top-4 piece.

Cut out the retention on Elvis
Dump Ceci in that Ducks trade
Cut out Texier and Chinakhov and add Boqvist
Remove the picks and add the 24'2nd to the Jackets trade instead

So you suggest we trade away our best d-man who yeah isn't worth 9 million but is still worth 6 million who also happens to be a very close friend to Mcdavid, because yeah moving him is gonna help us win. Top pairing guys don't grow on trees, yeah he's overpaid but he's also our best defenseman

I don't see a trade happening between the Oilers and Jackets.
I suggested the Oilers try to trade Ceci and their 2024 1st to Nashville for Lankinen (with 1 million retained) and Fabbro.

I’m not saying it’s realistic or going to happen but I would think you wouldn’t have to pay as much to ship Nurse as you would Campbell and you’d free up so much more money. You already have a good goalie that has had plenty of experience to be the starter. The D that your forwards and ‘defensemen’ play is typically atrocious. You can get a slightly better goalie than Skinner but your D is still ass for the playoffs.

Nurse isn't the Oilers best dman, Bouchard is.

I could see a trade for Spencer Martin as a possible upgrade over Pickard since the Jackets expect to get Tarasov back and they don't want to lose him to waivers.
