What is that move

Description
Rumors about Oilers scouts at CBJ for past few games and that it’s not just for goalies.

Both Boqvist and Broberg were mid first rounders for Chicago and Edmonton respectively. But a natural RHD is far less blocked in Edmonton, and Broberg is a few years younger and hasn’t yet reached his ceiling.

I can't see Columbus being remotely interested in that offer.

OMFG, you can't be serious! Broberg for Boqvist is fair and Merzilkins for the 2nd as well but unless you are adding Bouchard or two 1sts or a 1st + Bourgault for the Jackets to take Campbell and a 2nd or 3rd for them to take Ceci then there isn't a deal to be made. One of the reasons Boqvist is even available is cause they have too many RHD so while Ceci has some value to other teams, he has none to Columbus.

What exactly does CBJ get back in this trade??
Campbell would require multiple firsts to dump, Ceci isn't much better than anyone on their current right side. Basically giving away Merzlikins for free?

No interest in Ceci, nor would he have a spot in Columbus over Sevo, Jiricek, or Gudbranson (wears a letter, has intangibles, skill less important). Foegele or Kulak instead. And an unprotected first, not a second.

Still would rather just keep Elvis, but if we HAVE to make the move, the one in this post ain’t it.

Nice to see fans of other teams also saying that this makes no sense for Columbus. Elvis is playing much better this year with the defensive upgrades and new goalie coach.
Tarasov is unproven and while Spencer Martin has been a pleasant surprise this year, I don't think the Jackets will trade Elvis unless they have a more proven goalie under contract for next year.
I think the Oilers should be trying to trade for Lankinen who has been playing well for Nashville and will need to buy out Campbell this offseason.

Well if CLB is expecting to miss anyways, it might not be a bad idea to move Merzlikins and Boqvist for Campbell + Broberg (technically surplus but they could use him in a trade perhaps) +... (more futures, no Ceci of course). They can look to bring in Vladar from CGY or someone else (Saros?) in the off-season when they buy out Campbell.

The Jackets don't have a history of taking on cap dumps and buying them out.
That is the other reason a Campbell/Elvis swap makes no sense.

Fair, guess they would have to be confident enough that Tarasov could be the 1A and have hope they could help Campbell turn it around, but yeah sounds like there is little sense for CLB to do this. Even the futures, aren't significant considering the prospect pool that they have. At best it's a way to move an RD lol.

Trading Campbell to MTL for one of their goalies is probably still the move, and then they can get Boqvist for their defense.
