I don’t think the Canucks really have anything that would interest the Canes all that much into moving Necas. I mean, he wasn’t available for guys like Laine, Eichel or Nylander, but he was available for M. Tkachuk. I mean, for the Canucks, I would expect that EP40 is likely the only player on the roster in which the Canes would be comfortable moving Necas for, and the Canucks aren’t going to do that, and understandably so.

Personally, I think the Canes might have a bit of skepticism as to Kuzmenko’s sustainability, to the point where they are more willing to stick with what they already know works rather than risk changing things for the worse.

No but in all seriousness he is a solid player who shot at historically high rate last yr. He's a mid level top line player who is a supplementary piece. Not sure exactly what Necas is but I do think he's a little more valuable. Depends on if you need Pius Suter or not really.

Necas is the most underrated player in the league IMO.

Necas is young still at 24, and put up 71 pts last year. With only a 3MM AAV, it seems unlikely Carolina would part with him, unless it was for a clear upgrade on the wing. I could see him as a package for Nylander or someone of that calibre.

For what it is worth, Necas would light it up on a line with Peterson.

Kuzmenko had 74 points last yr and 39 goals. So it's not like they aren't in a similar tier. Necas is more valuable given he's younger and team controlled but he'll be making more than Kuzmenko next yr.

Next year's problems are always easier than this year's problems. Necas definitely has more value as a trade chip, especially given Kuzmekos regression this year.

I'd agree with that but I think Necas is also in the midst of a significant regression this yr too which is also alarming given the season he had in 2021-22.

I still think they are in the same ballpark. Necas slightly higher value.

We put in a bid for Eichel but didn’t include Necas. Likely because of the unknown of his neck procedure and what he would play like on the back end of it. Not sure we could classify that as a mistake at the time. Its risk management.

Im not sure Nylander was ever a serious possibility or we ever had serious conversations about him.
