He’s been really good with ottawa this year tbh. He hasn’t scored much but he’s been a big positive on the ice, different than what I was expecting. I thought we’d get a goal scorer who’s a defensive liability and doesn’t do much on the ice

I’m personally not opposed to the Kuraly trade, but teams rarely move players with term remaining and letters on their chests. Especially when they’re natives to the small market.

They're different players. Kubalik doesn't play defence, and he doesn't have Trenin's physicality. He's a secondary scorer who's not doing much of it this season. Trenin's putting up the same numbers, despite his slow start offensively and without the PP time Kubalik gets. Plus Trenin is cheaper and does more when the puck's not on his stick.

If NSH wants to add a Kubailk type player to their lineup, they can just call Gurianov up.

The value on the Tarasenko trade is fine I guess even though I still think NYR would decline. The issue with it is that Kakko for Tarasenko doesn't solve the Rangers RW issue. I know Kakko is probably out for awhile but still supposed to be back this year. Rather give up futures than slightly upgrade that position while also mortgaging the future with a cost controlled player.

Agreed with the first part but Kubalik is a much better player overall than Gurianiov who is just bad.

Yeah, Kubalik is notably better than Gurianov on the whole, but Kubalik just hasn't been producing this season. I haven't watched him a ton, but he's getting PP time and he's shooting 16%. That's way higher than his norm, so it's not just bad puck luck either.

Gurianov on the other hand, is playing really well in MIL. The Preds would be dumb to not at least give Gurianov a shot, before trading for Kubalik.

Yeah Kubalik is a bit useless in Ottawa, this team is not really well constructed, just a bunch of good hockey players not really complimentary of each others. And coaching just makes it even worse, really bad team full of good players. If they had less talent, they'd have maybe just 3 or 4 wins

As for Nashville needs, I am not as aware of this as you so I'll take your word, it should read Kubalik to "any team" (for a pick) in the OP

No NSH fan really knows what we need either. Are we competing, rebuilding, retooling, sticking with the status quo and seeing what happens? It's anyone's guess.
