Description
It's not easy watching the Hawks rebuild, so remaining optimistic and looking forward to this team in the 2025/2026 season when they should be ready to compete.

We are going to need a plug at RW in the top 6. The Hawks have a strong prospect system but lack at the RW position unless we get lucky and draft someone, but the 2024 draft is looking like Celebrini, Eiserman, or the RHD Belgium prospect (forget his name). Good news, Nylander, Marner, Rienhart, Rantanen, Boeser are all younger UFAs between this summer and next summer and the Hawks have loads of cap space to make a big splash. Call it our Marian Hossa 2.0 move.

There is some concern at RHD, but Phillips is doing a heck of a job, Allan is looking good on his off side in Rockford, and Rinzel is turning out to be a heck of a prospect. I do expect the Hawks to target RHD guys in the 2024 draft, with the exception if they get the top 1 or 2 picks. Not to worry, the Hawks have plenty of picks, but regardless, a RHD guy is unlikely to be ready for the start of the 2025 season anyway.

I really do like Brocket but at some point the Canucks will need players to step in on ELCs or lesser deals than this and make an impact. If they invest at RHD, either trade or upcoming FA, I'm not sure they can afford this then. Especially with Petey, Hughes, Hronek, Mikheyev, UFA/trade RHD, top 4LHD (if that's not Soucy) and potentially Kuz extending. If Brocket got a deal like this, no Kuz. Need Lekkerimaki to then fill the gap on the wing along with Hoglander, Podkolzin and maybe Klimovich. Along with D guys like Hirose, Woo, McWard and DPetey. Of course Demko extension would be up for debate at this time too.

Six straight seasons between 45 and 55 points. I'd ignore tbe outlier and pay Boeser like the 6 straight seasons. He doesn't play much defense either. We may not get his services, but unless it's a 1-2 year deal...thats a huge contract.

I would probably accept that deal for Campbell although I would prefer the picks to be in 2024 and 2025.

That is a huge overpay for Boeser, yes he is having a good season however, he has never had a point per game year. If he gets over $6m per season, let some other team be the one to make that mistake.

The D prospect you are thinking of might be Levshunov, from Belarus. The d prospects are probably a strength of this team, adding a high end right shot could round out that group.

Chicago should push for Nylander this off season. He isnt the defensive wizard like Hossa but he elevates the guys around him.

Id rather have Nylander at 11M then Boeser at 8M. I see a lot more Tor games than Van so I am more familiar with Nylander.

Want the 2026 pick as LD and McDavid's contracts are done and the Oilers could go into a rebuild

Personally, I don't think we should sign any big ticket free agents (if they even make it to free agency). BUT, if we were to go after one, Nylander or Reinhart would be my choice for long term. For shorter term deals, I would target someone in the Eberle/Stamkos age group.

One thing I really wouldn't mind CHI doing is making a push to get Jarvis out of Carolina. I know it would cost assets, but I think he could really be worth it, depending on the price.

I'd rather have Nylander or Reinhardt or Rantanen...but I don't think Nylander or rantanen make it to free agency

Unless Toronto does something drastic like move Tavares or Marner, I dont see a way for them to sign Nylander.

Rantanen is my 2nd choice, but like you said.. if they make it to free agency.

It will be interesting how Toronto juggles the cap space. Marner seemed to be favored until end of last year and this year, but Nylander has really stepped up. Marner is also expiring so possible that's an option, but would rather have Nylander, Rantenen or Reinhardt than Marner.

Rantanen is the guy for me, if he makes it to free agency Davidson should go all in to get him.

I think they will struggle through next season with a tight cap situation, after that Marner and Tavares are both UFAs. I think Tavares will sign for less then his current deal and Marner will get an increase to about $12.5m per on a long-term deal, provided of course he isn’t sick of the BS tossed at him by the idiotic Leafs fans who can’t seem to understand how good of a player Marner is.

Yes, the summer after next, the cap situation will ease quite a bit with Tavares coming off the books and signing for half of where he's at now and thus they should have no issues affording Marner. The challenge is this summer with Nylander and JT still on the books.
