Neither player waives for Winnipeg, although it sure would be nice if Pulock would.

The Jets can't afford to get mixed up with Nelson's contract though.

This maybe gets you Pulock.

He also has an entire full NTC, but I do hope we are bottom feeders, we could use a few top picks

NYI should have been sellers at last year’s TDL and begin a full rebuild. But they just built a new stadium and they need to fill seats so obviously they were forced to stay competitive

Lou has no clue what he's doing - Horvat really hasn't changed the team. Team is getting old and has very little in terms of assets, cap, or roster flexibility. Seems like they'll be stuck in neutral for the next two to three years.

Do they make bold moves and sell Dobson or Barzal to get a big return?

Team lacks primary scoring and offensive depth

Pulock probably waives being from Manitoba and his junior playing days with the wheatkings. Would be interesting partner for morrissey and being only drafted a couple apart should be around a similar amount of time.

I understand that trading for Horvat was the wrong move last season, but that shouldn’t take anything away from the fact that he’s actually playing pretty good. The teams losing is by no means his fault but just cause he was the lastest pickup doesn’t mean he should get blamed

I'd love it if you were right, but I just don't see it. He's spent his entire professional career in New York, I can't see him having much attachment to Manitoba anymore. New York is his home. That's not even taking into account tax and lifestyle differences between New York and Manitoba.

He can fly home to visit friends or family anytime, since money isn't a concern.

Winnipeg isnt rebuilding and NYI will take a few years to get back, if they do a quick rebuild. Of course they will waive if they want to win

Nelson has one year left. at 6m, that is not a bad contract.

It's bad enough that there is no reason to pay anything for it. If the Islanders want to move him, they can pay to do so like everyone else has to.

You can't assume winning is the only thing that matters to them. In all likelihood, that would be a consideration, but probably no more important than lifestyle and keeping as much money as they can in their pockets.

It's unlikely we ever find out, but I can't see why they would be any different than 99.9% of all the other players and not have Winnipeg on their no go list. It's not like Winnipeg would be the only team interested, in Pulock at least. So, they probably both would have choices, so why choose a long shot to contend when they'll almost certainly have better options that aren't in Canada.

He’s home to grandview/gilbert plains every summer, pretty sure he would waive, especially if the isles were heading down for a rebuild and jets were trending up. Not sure he would stop many trades, if isles end up heading in the wrong direction. Don’t know him personally though, just speculation

What are you smoking? 6m for a 2C is not an overpay

I have no doubt he'd accept a trade somewhere, I just can't see it being Winnipeg when he'll have other choices.

All my family is still in Manitoba and I go back every year, but I'm not moving back. People read far too much into where someone was born, imo.

I live in the same neighborhood as sanheim/whitecloud/pulock to a degree, all would be eligible for the same senior league, that no longer even exists, but I believe all would love an opportunity to play for the jets, and hold a certain prestige in representing there home province team. There isn’t a ton in that category, so I believe there would be some drive and loyalty there, but in saying all that, those same guys were excited about long term extensions in there own city’s that brought them into the league and made them pros. Just kind of a different element to play pro locally where they grew up and pretended to be jets someday, in pulocks case, believe it was a childhood dream to be a islander, but it also included winning a cup, so possibly need to make a move for that.

Not blaming Horvat by any means - he is playing well. I am putting the blame squarely on Lou for constructing this team to have zero cap/roster flexibility.

Pulock and Nelson waiving to go to Wiinnipeg would go a long way to allowing Lou to actually go out and get a goal scorer in a trade/FA this offseason that they desperately need. That said I have zero faith in Lou or the coaching staff to actually do that.

I would love Pulock on the Jets…. WOULD LOVE IT
Nelson, with 1 year left, isn’t really a need as it’s unlikely he’d resign in WPG and if he would, he’d likely want to much… but if his inclusion was required to get Pulock… then done deal.. send him along.
Personally, I don’t want to move Barron, so I wouldn’t include him… As for value… I don’t see this doing it for the Isles.
I still think Ehlers + Heinola for Pulock is a good trade all around
