Zad and Tanev

Description
Trade is pretty obvious.
Retention at around 50% on a 1 year deal seems to be around a 3rd round pick.

Abruzzese, Benoit for Zadrov
Tanev for Steeves, Timmins,

Leafs may add a few later round picks, to get the deal done a bit earlier than usual. CGY (if they have decided to get it done) probably want to move Tanev a bit earlier as his health history is likely concerning.

Comtois has no NHL deal, and has 6p in 6 games so far. The CGY trade open up a few contract spots, so why not add a guy who was a solid top 6 er a few years ago and is still young!

You definitely forgot a 1st round pick going to Calgary. Tanev is going to have some good value.

Remove 2 of Steeves and Benoit and Timmins. Add a 1st round pick. Then this becomes a fair deal.

Yea, Calgary won't be flipping Klingberg. Im pretty sure they would rather retain on Hanifin or Lindholm to up there value

A first isnt enough for Tanev. Steeves and them are irrelevant. Gotta look at Orlov trade last year before this gets realistic. No pain no gain

1st + 3rd for Tanev at 50% retention is my best guess on his value. Orlov had more value than Tanev though.

I agree those prospects were irrelevant, hence why I said to remove them from this trade proposal AND add a 1st round pick to the package.

And thenn you can talk about zadorov. And thats why I dont see this happening with leafs draft capital alone, I think a good young guy has to be moved. Leafs draft capital is already too low as it is, it would be good to see some draft picks come back.

Even Nylander or Brodie are on the table in my eyes. Especially if you dont see them signing in the offseason. Do the deal before Christmas so that you can re evaluate at the deadline, and then sign Kane to fill out the top 6 role left by Nylander. I don't think Treliving wants to mortgage the future with this deal as much as he wants to re organize the identify of the team. We don't need more superstar gamebreakers, we need guys who can make it tough on the opposition. And Calgary is in retool limbo, acquiring a gamebreaker is in their best interest.

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but its a great case of talent arbitrage.

Tanev is 2 years older and hasn't exactly been amazing the past season and this season. Still a good add but overpaying for a guy who's best days are behind him, isn't wise.

In both scenario's they're rentals so either way they're in their prime. And Tanev being a right handed shot adds value. I think if you're the leafs and you get to pick one for a pickup game, between Orlov and Tanev you pick Tanev everytime.

I definitely want Tanev, and I would trade a 1st and a second asset for retention. Similar to the cost for ROR, maybe it's a couple more assets and Zadorov is included. But it's not ever going to cost a top prospect, or Liljegren. I imagine they won't even want to part with Timmins. McCabe maybe.
