If you're trading Mcdavid I think I can put together an offer from the Jets that is better than what that NYR offer is tbh. There would need to be a couple of players coming back to make the cap work, but I think I can do it no problem. Perfetti, Lucius, Pionk, Stanley, Two 1sts and a couple of later picks.

McDavid has to agree to go to Winnipeg though. Pretty unlikely.

Edmonton would have to take more cap back from the rangers (goodrow) with the rangers sending another 1st in return but it seems pretty realistic to me.

In terms of the value for the Rangers I don't think its an insane package but theres no way they would do that. Makes them worse now and in the future. Edmontons problem is lack of depth. Why would the Rangers trade for him and completely abandon their forward depth. Not to mention they would still have to move money unless edmonton retained salary which they wouldn't do.
