No because EDM doesnt have cap space, and Matheson has been horrible in other years before these first few games of the season. His contract is horrible

He was awesome last season before his injury and pretty good the season before in Pittsburgh. So this is his 3rd good season in a row.

Nurse & Campbell's contracts are terrible. Matheson is actually a top 10 value contract in the league.

Its not worth giving up 2 good prospects though

This is certainly a conversation starter. Cap would need to be balanced and I'd say the positions of the players involved would need to get closer to balance (adding another LD without moving one is inoptimal) but it achieves a good deal of what EDM should be looking to achieve.

Best player in the trade is Matheson and allen is better than skinner or is certainly playing like it and has a cheaper cap hit... and Ylonen could be better than either of those prspects so thank god the gm of the habs wont do this trade. We have no need to move any of those players and moving them doesnt improve our team.. Holloway is a B prospect and Bourgault is a long shot for sure... and montreal has too many prospects of that quality already... This trade improves edm because matheson is better than most of their defense but they get two other good players as well.. yikes terrible trade

Strange... Edmonton would be robbing Montreal blind in this scenario: Holloway+Bourgault hardly begins to compensate for Campbell's contract, so in no plausible way can the Oilers expect positive assets in return with such package!

those former first rounders have not put up any numberrs in the nhl or big numbers in the ahl....so they are maybes at best while clearly matheson and allen are nhl players
