If healty, he wil maintain his pace. If not, he won't be traded away. So it's a 1st or nothing.

lmfao okay so yall can keep him.

Habs fans keep hyping up literally everyone on their roster and claiming theyll get 1sts and they never do (besides Chiarot lmao)

A players value in only as much as a team is willing to pay.

He also has 1.6 goals over expected. He will average out throughout the season. Id bet he gets to the TDL with 15-18 goals and 40 or so total points, which will get a solid 2nd considering his AAV

I don't really care what you bet, Habs hatter. A top 6 center good on faceoffs and PP paid between 1 (with retention) and 2M will fetch a 1st.

Chiarot for a 1st
Lehkonen vs a former 1st (Barron RHD prospect) + a 2nd (better value than Chiarot)
Kulak for a 2nd + 7th
Toffoli for a 1st + former 2nd rd pick (Heineman) + 5th

Don’t know what you are saying but MTL do get value out of their bottom six forward / bottom pairing dman (for you they are replacement level player and we still get value)

If he puts up a 60 point pace, leads in NHL in faceoff % and continues to be a legitimate PK guy and PP guy he will get a 1st. I'm not going to predict him all of a sudden sucking.

Come January, I believe Kent Hughes will see what an extension would look like for Monahan. And depending on the asking price (and term), Hughes will either sign him or trade him.

The perception of Monahan, by all fans and the league, is that he’s already an aging Veteran in his mid 30s. Monahan even joked about it in an interview that everyone thought he was 35 lol
So if that’s the perception. What’s the harm in extending him for 3-4 years, at a reasonable cap hit, then having this same conversation when he’s 33-34?

Habs want to be competitive in the next 2ish years, and they’ll still need players like Monahan. Unless they 100% believe someone like Owen Beck will be ready for a top 6 role (and he realistically could be), I say extend Monahan. Keep him.

A top 6 center needs to be a top 64 center, and i could name 70 better than him.

He is very average on faceoffs and good on PP? He is just not lmfao.

Keep telling yourself that bro

RD is a lot different than a center who is the definition of 3rd line lmao. Habs fans have gaslit themselves into beliveing Anderson is worth more than a 1st, too. This aint worth my time. Unless he maintaisn this 45 goal pace, is aint hapening

All of a sudden? He has regressed every season for the past like 7 years bro. He has overproduced in MTL so far

He also is very average on the PP, I have no idea where Habs fans get these ideas from. Same with Anderson having intangibles!!!

Its continuos delusional habs fans.

Want me to name the 70 guys?

Ill make it even simpler. If Habs fans really thought Monahan was that good, why do I only ever see them extending him for 1-2 years at like 4 mil? Thats not how much top 6 centers make, is it?

Why is he not getting a 6x7.5 deal? Or even a 5x5? Exactly bro.

Looking at your bio and comments, you’re an obvious Hab hating troll…. But with that being said, Monahan being somewhere around the top 55-60 centers is more realistic, so you’re actually not that far off lol
The only true knock on Monahan has been his health for the past 3ish years. Which probably explains why Habs fans trying to extend him, don’t want to “over commit” on his next contract.
But realistically, if Monahan continues as he’s currently doing, a 4-5 year extension at $5+mil would probably be his asking price to stay. And I’m not against it.

You have so low hockey knowledge it's sad to be honest
1. I came in saying MTL do get 1st round value for their players
2. I never talked about Monahan
Looks like you want to get in the Monahan value debate
Let's keep it simple : Monahan was a good hockey player but played injured and regressed until he got surgery. Monahan gets traded to MTL after his injury, plays well but get injured again. So not traded because not healthy. Monahan starts the year even better than last year, and we are 9 games in. Can we just wait until the TDL if he is still healthy before making Monahan trades ? For you low hockey knowledge, Monahan is playing at top 6 level right now, but the fact that he is injured prone makes him lose leverage for getting a long term contract. Now, you can assimilate that or keep being a jerk

Im the jerk? Who is the one who is sayin the other has low howkey knowledge lmao?

I said if he keeps his pace, sure he could. But he wont because all metrics show he is overproducing.

Being injured a lot also lowers value lol, you say it like its a good thing.

Chiarot is a RD, way different.
Toffoli was/is way better than Monahan
Lehkonen got a 2nd and a prospect who Habs fans have also since completely overhyped, but that is unrelated.

So teams are gonna pay a 1st for a rental who they wont want to re-sign? Okay dude you are making my points for me!

If he conitnues what? 45 goal pace? Obviously, but he wont. The math and career past dont support it

Realistically, he is gonna get a 2nd + B- prospect if he finishes by the TDL around what I expect.

And if hes the 55th best center lets say, thats gonna be 3C on any contending team who would be trading for him, and its hard to imagine that one of those teams would give up one of their most valuable assets in a 1st

Also not a Habs troll. just an Anderson hater. Ive had this since I created my account and I have been saying he sucked since he was on the Jackets lol.

For the record, Reinbacher, Caufield, Hutson, Farrell are all studs to name a few. I dont troll the Habs, im an islanders fan. I like MTL. I just think that some Habs fans are delusional, like the ones who say Anderson is getting more than a 1st because of some random report.

LOL. You can stop this back and forth for the value of Monahan in this trade scenario. The Stars will need a Top 4 D at the deadline, not another forward.

We are loaded at the forward position and have Bourque and Stankoven playing very good in the AHL.

At the D position, it's another story.

I would dangle Matheson to the Stars if they made Stankoven and/or Bourque available. More pieces would have to be added (on both sides) but I be down for that.

Bourque, Stankoven and Bichsel are going nowhere and I doubt we would take a player with term on his contract.

My hope is that we go fetch Tanev. He would cost less and is a RD.

I never talked about Monahan value lmao
You are so lost, again, it's sad
IF (IF) Monahan stays healthy and keeps producing (at a lower rate I agree), his value will depend on the market, like every TDL ...
Right now I think Lindholm and Monahan are the only good addition at the Center position
If there's a bidding war, price will go up (look at the Chiarot trade)
Lehkonen got a former 1st round pick who was good in the AHL at 20 yo and all Avs fans didn't want to trade him (after recently trading Helleson)
Barron had 1st round value when he got traded to MTL
Lehkonen was a bottom six winger who never scored more than 31 points before the trade. Yes he is a good complementary top 6 winger, and for that reason they were welling to pay premium assets (+ he was RFA)
I never said being injury prone is a good thing, it's a ba thing for the team & the player. But if he signs somewhere, it's not gonna be at 6M+
