Leafs should say yes but likely don’t just cause marner is a hometown boy and leaf’s don’t do that Arizona deal we need help on defence

Can't see Boston trading McAvoy. He's finished Top 5 in Norris voting in 2 of the last 3 seasons and Top 10 in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Finding an elite #1 RHD is near impossible in the NHL and trading McAvoy would leave a massive hole in Boston's defense.

McAvoy has more value than Marner. I wouldn’t take this if I’m Boston.

Carlo could easily step up to 1st pair.

The only way I see it possible to trade Marner is if it is for a elite top pair defense to partner with Rielly.
There are so few options but some one on the TML core has to go at some point so we can shore up our defense and goalie situation.

Reaves is never joining the Coyotes. And Toronto isn't giving up a first rounder for McBain

The 1st is a combination of forcing the Reaves contract on some one and the rest of the 1st pick is for McBain who can play center and is not a tool and is a Toronto kid and can still fight if needed.

I feel like Arizona has learned their lesson on bad contracts. But also, if you're going to try and bribe a team with a first rounder, maybe pick a team that lacks picks. Arizona is solid on picks right now.

Oh sure, Carlo could play on the 1st pairing, but he's not an elite #1D like McAvoy is. Let say he does slide up though, who is playing 2RD for Boston? Here's a list of current RHD (excluding McAvoy & Carlo) that the Bruins have in the system:

The Bruins depth at RHD is absolute garbage past McAvoy & Carlo

As much as AZ would like more 1st and less middle rounds, taking reaves and having to buy out or scratch for 3 years isnt worth it, add losing mcbain for sure not worth it.

You would need to add Lily and a 1st along with Marner to even get Bostons attention and I’m a Leafs fan.
