Its really a local issue/ Nylander on almost 20 teams could make 9mil, but on the leafs should he really accept 60% of what Matthews is getting or 60% of what Marner will get next year?
Its the structure they've created. Put it this way, Nylander could go to Philly and make 11mil, far more than anybody else on the team, be a 1st liner, 1st PP, etc... tons of minutes on a team full of youth/prospects on the upswing, but as a UFA he should accept 9mil on a team, 60% of what at least 2 other teammates make, lacking picks/prospects, fills gaps yr to yr with UFAs, bargain basement duct tape fixes that hasn;t gone anywhere?
Its alot of underpayments/underoffers just to maintain the big 4 eating 40-55% of the entire cap. (In a year that the cap makes a jump and is expected to continuing growing: Domi takes a pay cut? Liljegren is still a 3rd pairing guy? Zadorov signs at a discount? pesce signs for 1.25mil less than reilly got 2-3 yrs ago? Robertson becomes a 3rd liner and gets just 950k? not to mention unrealistic expected growth from holmberg, robertson, woll, timmins, petruzulli, etc... and nothing subtracted for 23-24 or TDL?)
