Even if I take your premise as worth considering, it would take a whole lot more than that to get Drai. Would start with 1 of Suzuki or Reinbacher, the '24 1st, and a couple other roster players (which would vary dependent upon which of the first two was chosen). On the whole, though, MTL wouldn't be the team to trade with if EDM wanted to make such a trade.

Lots of crazy here. A player like Drai would only be moved for a tier A all-star same age or future all star not younger than 22. Pasta, Rantanen, Fox, Dahlin, Petterson...

I hear you on the fact that MTL is maybe not the ideal partner. MTL DOES have young (cost controlled) assets who will be under team control for a long time, so in that sense they are maybe a fit. They also MIGHT have the desire to do something like this in the offseason. I hear you about the value maybe being off. I included Newhook as he's our top scorer right now, Monahan because he's cost controlled for what he brings, and Guhle because he's awesome. But whatever the mix of players, I think there are player in MTL who are cost-effective and can help the Oilers get over the hump.
