So, Nick Robertson holds near no value right now, due to his injuries and stalled development. Maybe he earns that back, but right now, it's pretty much nil.

So it's just Nylander+late 1st for Pettersson? No thanks.

I'd agree, just threw something together to point out that Canucks ownership/management is dogpoop. They NEED to resign him, but if he wont stay, now is the time.

Then why does it get leaked that he doesn't want to sign long term and therefore the team says "fine, we dont want you either" ??

I don't get this logic. Nylander has one year left till UFA, and RFA Petersson. So what if Petersson doesn't want to resign with the Canucks, is he going to resign with the Leafs.
Not saying the Canucks should be making the trade.
As a reference, Tkachuk who had one year left till UFA, got one year of Huberdeau, one year of Weager and first.

LOL, says Robertson has no value weeks after Kyper says LA was willing to offer Turcotte and others have offered a 2nd and he knows of at least 2 teams that offered a 1st for Robertsson.

This is a horrible trade for Toronto.

Though the Leafs have no cap for the trade, it isn't a bad deal for the Leafs. A superior Petersson over Nylander for one year. Then the Leafs have Petersson for one year. All that for two first rounders.

If you're putting stock into something Nick Kypreos said, that's all I need to know. If teams have offered a FIRST for him, the Leafs would have immediately taken it lol.
