Who wantd to play in Winnipeg? Not many players, so where was Chevy going to find another goalie of Hellebuyck's caliber to sign? They really could not havr spent that money any better. There's no way WPG is going to attract the type of talent Vegas can via FA, so csnvt even compare

I would add thsg VG did have elite goaltending, just not an elite goalie per se. Plus, WPG needs to make the playoffs in the first place, so having Hellebuyck at least helps them with that.

Not sure what the outrage is about the contracts. They both are bad values. 8.5 is steep for a goalie sure. But he’s their guy and has been their guy and has been really good.

They don’t have many long term commitments but the ones they do top 6 C, 1-2D and elite goalie are a really good foundation.

Don’t really see many UFAs heading towards Winnipeg and you can’t expect to full bottom out and win the lottery unless you plan on being very very bad for a while. Most franchises do not want to do that or cannot do that aside from the o6 franchises in large cities.
