Robertson doesn't have the tools to play in the NHL. He won't be filling that hole in any satisfactory way after 10 games.

I could be wrong but I wouldn't decisively count him out just yet. Wouldn't be the least surprised if he had a Sprong or Tolvanen type of breakout and impact this season.

That's absolutely wrong. While I am not sure he's long for TO, he certainly has NHL speed, and a crazy good shot. He doesn't have the size to effectively forecheck but he'll find a niche being the main trigger man on a line. Just not likely going to happen in TO

Thinking he has NHL speed is mind boggling. He has never shown any sort of 'NHL speed' and even if he did have that, he needs better than average NHL skating due to his size. Robertson has a good shot but the issue is he doesn't have any tools to create room for himself to use it. His skating isn't good enough, his puck handling isn't good enough. On top of that he doesn't have a quick release, he has a very long wind up on that shot. When he releases it quickly it turns into just an average NHL shot which just isn't good enough given he's so lacking in every other aspect.

Can't see TOR getting much of any value when they need to make a move...

Yes. I am one of those guys who actually pays attention rather than blindly hype up a prospect who at no point has looked like hes NHL ready.

Plenty of guys coming on waivers. I mean in my prime I could have prolly scored 20 with Matthews/Tavares/Nylander/Marner/etc and then flopped (again) in the playoffs...

I'd wager that so long as he stays healthy, and based on the non-chronic nature of his injuries, which may have actually enabled him to get stronger after all that rehab/development time, he eventually breaks through as a solid NHL player.

For a guy that surely pays attention, you must know it takes some guys a while to find their way in the league not unlike a long list of other players such as Zuccarello, Kadri, McCann, Marchessault, Sprong, Tolvanen etc.. He's undersized but works his a$$ off and has steadily improved on his weaknesses. Guys like that with his skill tend to eventually figure things out.

Come on, we both know that trade has Lou written all over it! Jarnkrok is a prototypical Lou player and would be a great fit with the Isles, and vastly superior to anything coming down the waiver wire.
