Of course you would, it's a bunch of mid pieces for a high end talent. UPL hasn't shown anything yet, had a worse save percentage than Gibson (who we're told is garbage) and Anaheim has no place for. Olosson is an over paid winger set to be a UFA and Buffalo would love to move to get cap. Ostlund is a fine prospect but he's what? Buffalo's 5th or 6th best forward prospect. A first rounder that will be late two drafts from now.

Yeah, that's a big pile of mid. A tip for the CF crowd out there... if your Zegras package is 4-6 pieces long it is an instant no from Anaheim. The Ducks don't need a bunch of stuff that "adds up to" Zegras. They need Zegras or a player of equal value.

What do you expect to get for a unsigned RFA, Sabres don't need him and it's a decent offer. Go and beat it, doubt he gets traded but good luck not to many teams can afford him.

I expect him to sign in Anaheim. The system is designed to give an RFA like Zegras who hasn't obtained arbitration yet very little leverage. He can sit and miss camp and maybe games and in doing so hurt himself as much or more than he hurts the team. Sitting out is a lose-lose and it is his only negotiating tactic.

This is a garbage offer and you know it. How about we take Savoie off your hands for Brayden Tracey, a second, and 3 4ths?

Big difference, yes Zegras has proven his worth a bit. Savoie still has 3yrs left on entry level. And you are still getting a 1st a A prospect 2nd rnd pick and a perennial 20 goal scorer that you can flip at the deadline if need be.

Sabes prospects pipelines is ridicoulous, and being 5-6th does not mean player is not high quality prospect. There are teams, who would love to have guys like Ostlund on top of their pipelines.

And the Ducks would love to have Quinn or Kulich or Benson at the top of theirs in place of Zegras. I'm kind of not seeing your point because this isn't about getting Ostlund in a vacuum. He's essentially the center piece to that proposed Zegras trade and he's no where near good enough to be that.

If Anaheim - Zegras relationship is broken beyond repair, Sabres would love to add Zegras using depth of their prospect pool. Who else Ducks can call ?

If Anaheim - Zegras relationship is broken beyond repair

Ducks don't need to call any one. Zegras can get bent (in this highly unlikely scenario) and half the teams in the league will be calling the Ducks. They have the cap flexibility to make a deal work with almost any one they chose to.

Buffalo fans should be the first ones to understand this dynamic having watched the Eichel trade process first hand. The situations wouldn't be completely the same of course but at a high level they hit a lot of similarities like being a relationship broken beyond repair (again not saying Zegras-Anaheim is broken... just in this hypothetical).

Buffalo may have players or prospects they value higher than Ostlund, but that doesn’t mean they have to offer them in a trade. Anaheim is the team with a ton of cap space, in search of more high-end prospects they can hope will pan out. Buffalo is in a pretty similar situation, but they have the cupboard full of prospects, so they are finally further along in their rebuild. Yes, plenty of teams will be calling about Trevor Zegras if he is actually available, but most of them will need Anaheim to eat considerable money in order to make the deal. Buffalo is one of the few they don’t have to do that with. That said, I expect Zegras will simply re-sign in Anaheim eventually, and there will not be a trade made at all this year. If he pushes for a short term bridge deal, and the team caves, you could see him traded in a year or two.

The only difference is that the Z one is obviously an underpayment whereas Savoie could possibly fall off of the development path he’s on and that value could actually end up being better than what he provides (unlikely as it is).

Anaheim isn’t trying to rebuild for 5 more years, we don’t want/need a mid 1st for top line 22 year old talent. It’s a garbage offer and we all know it.

Well if you lose Zegras and the other one's I have seen with Drysdale you probably will be rebuilding for another 3 years. It might not be the best offer, but it's not garbage and Anaheim has pretty much done this to themselves. This is a bad time for teams having trouble signing players, there isn't a lot of teams that can afford him. Still think he signs in Anaheim, but it's only Garbage because you think you should get more. Most people do, just look at other trades and what they got. Tough landscape out there.
