Jesus guys, where are you getting these evaluations from? Stanley may have been a mid first selection but he's 25 and can barely crack an NHL roster.

Harkins = 6th
Stanley = 5th
. . . and I'm being generous.

Too many Dmen? More like too many non NHL calibre Dmen on the team.

I don't think there are any significant trades in the defensive group.
- Schmidt on the 3rd pairing, as it would cost an asset to move his contract
- Heinola to the AHL (waivers exempt)
- Stanley as 7th D (Cheveldayoff and the sunk cost fallacy)
- Capobianco or Chisholm will the 8th D, with the other having to go through waivers

I think Harkins goes on waivers as one of the last cuts unless there are training camp injuries that extend into the season.

Literally the opposite. No top high end d-men. But they have a ton of middle/bottom pairing d-men and young d-men who could make the next step.
All these guys could very well make the NHL roster (again not high-end players):

- Rutta
- Ferraro
- Benning
- Thrun
- Simek
- Burroughs
- Knyzhov
- MacDonald
- Cicek
- Okhotiuk
- Mukhamadullin
- Gawanke

Schmidt just adds to that list of mediocrity and gets in the way of a young d-man getting NHL games. Also that cap hit is brutal

Harkins and Stabley are fine as the #7 D & #13 forward. They are stuck with schmidt as most teams are in cap hell. Jets will have to pay to get rid of shcmidt. Which they shouldnt as they are both competing and stocking up with prospect cupboard. The only D to move that anyone will take is Dillion, and jets should look for a bottom 6 forward in return.
