I think Rangers pass because Lindgren is far too important to that blue line. Value Wise it may be fair though

I was hoping someone would say this, because although there are other constraints on a team like the Rangers, in a vacuum, I think the trade I suggested, is pretty close as far as value goes.

Leafs say no too

Selling high for an expiring contract to a team that really doesn't have the depth to make that move. Nylander is great, but you'd have to hit a team looking to take the next big step from a GM that is under pressure to make the playoffs AND has cap room. Not much of that out there anymore.

NYR don’t have the cap space to do something similar to the Tkachuk deal. They’re honestly in a rough spot cap wise. Add on top of that the proposed moves out around 7m in cap for (4 + from Chytil for a couple of seasons) and adds in a pending UFA who reportedly is asking for a high cap hit and most likely will settle around 9-10 if I had to guess. It’s just not feasible.

With all due respect, I'll give my honest opinion as a fellow Leafs fan and say the value really isn't close at all IMO.

Lindgren is 25, has had real success as a top pair D on a good team and is an RFA after this year. Chytil just turned 24 twelve days ago and is already a capable 2nd line center who is signed for less than 5 mil for the next 4 years. Those two players combined make almost the same next year as Willy will, who is a 27 year old winger with one year left before becoming a UFA.

Even removing Hollowell who at this point is an unknown; Lindgren, Chytil and a 1st is way too much to pay for Nylander. A trade like this wouldn't make sense for any team and certainly not for a potential contender like the Rangers.
