Schneider gets burnt easily. It has nothing to do with his partner. I’ve seen Schneider do rookie mistakes for 2 years now. Defensemen take a long time to hit their prime so there’s no need to rush him. Plus Trouba is a mentor and guys like KAM love him

He's a useful player and a team like Nashville who would need a top RHD imo would pay, obviously not a lot but rangers wouldn't have to pay to move him. Also he'd get to be a d partner with one of the best dman.

Agree to disagree. Rangers would need to move him for cap and a team who doesn't have a cap issue would benefit from the rangers cap situation. Even if a 2nd and 3rd is too much the rangers would have to had a sweetener.

Nashville declines. I highly doubt we’re in the market for a guy like Trouba. I’m not willing to spend 30+m on a defense that would be well below average.

8m in cap gets you a good UFA, so teams won't be giving up picks for Trouba. Any team with cap would be the other on his list. Heck he could include Leafs, Sens and Oilers on his "trade list" as I doubt as if they have cap.

1 of either Goody 900k ret or Kreider 2m ret will have to go before 25. Then the other and/or Trouba 2.5m ret before 26. They will not be moving unless retained, neither will Panarins nmc

No point retaining on goody buyout is beneficial. And no shot kreider requires retention and if retention is on trouba then the rangers will get actual value back

I know this is gonna be crazy, but are we honestly good enough to win a cup. I think I’d rather 2 solid goalies and trade Shesty instead of paying him $9 plus mil. That way we can add more depth to the team. More than anything they need to offload Panarin, even if you gotta retain $3-4 mil. That $7 mil in flexibility would be huge. I think not having forwards in the 25-29 age range is what will prevent us from taking the next step. It’s why I truly believe they won’t win with this current core of Trouba, Goodrow, Kreider, Mika, Trocheck and Panarin. I believe the true potential cup winning core will be Shesty, Fox, Miller, Lindgren, Schneider, Laf, Kakko, Chytil and guys like Othmann, Sykora, Berard, Cuylle, Korczak, McConnell-Baker and Perrault.

Our cap starting next year, 25 26 & 27 is: -1m -6m 12m.
26 is the tight year. Better off trading Goody 7-900k retained. Kreider will need 1-2m ret realistically. Trouba will need 2-2.5m ret also.
The returns aren't the important part, cap is. Teams will not take them on at full cap
