Way too soon to tell. Looking at only their draft year, Reinbacher league wise, Nemec internationally

Personally think Nemec is a better player. Or I guess has the capability to be a more dynamic player. But I think Reinbacher long term. Mainly because he’s going to be in a spot to be the guy for a defense vs Nemec who likely never gets that opportunity with how loaded the Devils defense short term and long term is.

I feel like Nemec is gonna be like Heiskanen and Reinbacher like a McDonagh with more impactful offense, both being Norris candidates at some point.

At least Nemec has had one impressive year in the AHL (if that means anything). Maybe the Habs should drafted Nemec in 2022, AND Reinbacher in 2023.

I did have a conversation saying what would the habs be with : Nemec Reinbacher and Lambert instead of Slaf and Mesar ... And I don't know but having :

Hutson - Nemec
Ghule - Reinbacher

is something that I would like to see just for the fun ...

My main concern with Nemec in New Jersey is he won’t get PP time. I can’t get a clear comp for what I think he’ll be. I think he’s more gifted than Reinbacher, I just don’t think he’ll be able to show it the same way.

Reinbacher reminds me of a more physical lower defensive IQ Pietrangelo. I just think a guy like that in Montreal who has a pretty lackluster defense and a high powered offense is going to get a ton of opportunity quickly. I guess Seider (maybe to a lesser degree) is the type of an early impact I see Reinbacher having. A guy who can QB a PP and who likely will, but that isn’t his main strength.

None of this is a slight on either player. They both will be top 4/top pairing guys I just don’t see a world as long as Hughes and Hamilton are in NJD where Nemec can have the impact Reinbacher can

I'll admit I don't know what the potential of players are that are selected in the draft..
But LWer are the most numerous of all players. 65% of players shoot left, so there will always be more left handed left wingers, centres, and LHD to pick from.
For that reason I don't know if Slafkovsky was the best pick at # 1 last season. Unless he was projected to be THAT much better than Nemec or Wright or Cooley, I wonder if LW Slfkovsky was the best choice.
Guess we can have this discussion with more facts in 10 years.

I agree, I think judging this early is tough no matter what prospects you are talking about. I also think that the comments are going to be biased based not on fanbase alliance but on OD vs DD. Nemec has pure offensive skill and can skate extremely well, Reinbacher is a bit slower and plays a really smart positional game. Trying to compare who will be better is like trying to compare who was better between Subban and Weber, different styles but both still highly skilled D men in their own rights.

Definitely too early to tell. Both look to have promising futures though. I just think with two higher tier young guys, situation is the main separator unfortunately. And while Nemec is in the place that offers greater team success, individual success isn’t as readily available as it would be to a guy like Reinbacher.

I guess the best takeaway I can think of is the opportunities of both Seider and Bowen Byram. I don’t think Reinbacher has the flashy style Seider does, but he’ll most likely get the same opportunity to grow in to the main guy on that blue line.
