Rangers have a simple, very simple task to do so that Laf reaches his potential... Play him in the top 6. At this point, I think Laf will be better than Kreider as a top 6 option

If Lavi wants to have success and a future, he has to prioritize laffy, Kakko and chytil over the vets

Lol the stat speaks for itself. No one is claiming he’s elite or a franchise changing player. Just that he deserves a legit top 6 chance

You can't compare Lafreniere to those guys on goal scoring only.
Panarin & Huburdeau are distributors. Danault is a shutdown C. Killorn is a middle 6 grinder that happened to play on great lines.

He's not a bust the way that Yakupov is a bust. He's just not worthy of #1 overall status. Plenty of time for his career to take a boost to be a quality NHL star... more likely he's an effective mid6 scoring winger. No shame in that.

Yea and Hughes wasn’t all that impressive in his 1st year when he only got 16 minutes a game, which is still more than Laffy has got his whole career. Then they gave Hughes a 3/4 minute bump

Even Stutzle got more minutes than laffys whole career right from the start lol. No one knows how good Laffy could be if he was playing top 6 minutes with better linemates from the start

Laffy was never considered a goal scorer either lol he was always a playmaker so he fits in. Also pretty much all those guys play top 6 minutes with better linemates that Laffy lol

Well he's an even worse playmaker than he is a goal scorer. 47 goals to 44 assists.

Still better than the names I listed in the description lol like I told the guy above you, I’m not calling him elite or a franchise player, just that he deserves more playing time. People think it’s easy to put up points in a limited role on the 3rd line

Rangers like the Oilers are known in the business as a horrible place for prospects.

They just don't know how to draft/develop homegrown talent. It's a real shame.

They've destroyed so many careers over the years. Kappo and Laf both could have been solid first line wingers.

Hughes is a tough one to compare. He was maybe 150 lbs when he came into league as 18-year old. And power play was where he was safest…and best. So he played a lot of PP minutes. He was still deer in headlights.

I think a better comp may be JVR. When he arrived in Philly, they were a very solid team (made SCF in his rookie year). Flyers were deep with veterans at forward and he struggled for meaningful minutes. They traded him to the leafs, where he went from being 3rd liner to 1st liner (leafs at the time were in midst of 7-year playoff drought). And his production jumped.

Your list is tremendously skewed because you’re including powerplay and shorthanded points which Laffy doesn’t play. Like 95% of Laffys points are all at even strength

Jessiman, Lundmark, McIlrath, etc. It has been a thing for decades. They sell out every home game whether they win or lose (thanks to corporate ticket holders), so less of a slow-build, draft-and-develop mentality. The Knicks have had similar issues. Blame Dolan.

Drury can’t control where Quinn and Gallant put Laffy and Kakko in the lineup. And it’s funny because people think chytil is good meanwhile he’s been in the league for 6 years and only now just has broken out

I don’t have numbers that go that far back that split based on strength. If I did, I’d post. But if one starts slicing and dicing…could make adjustments for era, team offense, etc. Most of these guys spot in that list wouldn’t change much.

Yea obviously Laffy and Kakko arent producing how we want them to but I’d put most of the blame on the coaching and organization

They both get a fresh start under Lavi and Kakko should have line 1 RW locked up. But this is probably the last straw for Laffy before they move on
