Description
Habs finish 30th in 2024. They draft 4th overall and this time they go for the russian kid. Lane Hutson turn pro after 2025 ncaa season.
They will still be seller at the deadline even if they are in playoff contention. Probably shop Allen retain, Savard Retain, Evans, Anderson or Matheson if Engstrom is ready for to take more minutes.

  1. Kakko, Kaapo [Droits de RFA]
Détails additionnels:
Kakko have another underwhelming season. Finish with around 40 points. When a players He will still deserve a raise from is current salary and i don’t think Rangers will want to commit long term since they have Schneider, Lafreniere, Miler, Lindgren and Shesterkin who will get significant raise. They move on from him for cheaper players.
NYR
  1. Farrell, Sean
  2. Harris, Jordan
Détails additionnels:
Could be another NHL ready forward. Ylonen is a intriguing one, he was on pace for 36 point with a very limited role.
Harris was mostly use in defensive attribution and he had great number on a very bad team. Harris won’t be putting ton’s of point on the board but will provide great minutes on PK and 5vs5. I think there more offence to is gane then what he shown last year. On a good team he would probably be near 35-40 points with 18-20 minutes. Would make this defense probably the deepest in the league.

We don’t have the depth in our top 6-9 to move him. I personally think we don’t move him unless he wants out or turns into a superstar and wants a huge contract we can’t afford. Plus with the cap raises the next couple of years and buyouts/trades of Trouba, Kreider, Goodrow and maybe Panarin/Trocheck, we could definitely find the room to resign him.

I think Kakko is about to pop off. He’s shown signs and his defensive game is already border line elite, just needs to take the next step offensively. Unless he wants out, can’t see him be moved

Plus he’s still only 22. Defensive game is great, just need to further develop offensively. Call me crazy, but I see him turning into Mark Stone, an elite defensive forward that puts up 60 plus points. Stone was 23 as a rookie and put up 60 plus points his first full year. Kakko turns 23 in February 2024, this is the year he takes that leap forward.

Rangers don't even consider it, but look at it this way....you can just get him with an offer sheet next year like you did with Laffy this year.

No way the Rags trade their only NHL RW. Literally zero chance they trade Kakko.

NYR easily pass. They literally have 0 RW outside of Kakko lol they’re most definitely not gonna trade him for a defenseman and ANOTHER LW

Laffy is the one to be trade TBH. Rangers have way too many LW on roster and in the system (othmann/cuylle who are close to NHL level)

All those players have No Movement clause. They won’t go anywhere if they don’t want to. That will bite them eventually there wonlt be enough money for all off them. othman and Cullie are probably a year away from NHL, Cullie will probably have is chance this year for call up. Love that kid.

After this year, Trouba, Goodrow and Kreider turn into NTC, so they can certainly be moved. Or they just get bought out if they don’t want to play ball. I won’t lose sleep on it either way as we need to focus on what’s best for the team.

You're asking for a cost-effective top 6 winger in exchange for 2 b-tier futures. Not only is the value off since Kakko has gotten better every season and has solidified a role with the Rangers, but there's no reason for the Rangers to trade Kakko, especially for a package as pathetic as this.

This isn't enough value to pry away Kakko and it doesn't help the Rangers contend.
