If I were a betting man this is the exact line up I think is the game 1 lineup barring injury.

I still think Kiviranta will be in the picture somewhere but man I hope Foudy can outplay the crap out of him and get that spot.

When was the last time a player made the Avs out of training camp that they didn't expect to be on the team? ROR is the only name that springs to mind.

Kiviranta takes a ton of penalties; he's exactly the kind of player Bednar hates. Foudy is too young for the Avs to have interest. I still think they sign someone else.

They don't need to save space; they can always send someone to the AHL if they need money.

Yakupov, Nichuskin, Logan O'Connor, Jack Johnson was on a PTO when he first came. I get where you're coming from, but it does happen with this team and it's happened a few times under Bednar.

Those were all guys they planned on having on the team, not players that came out of nowhere to win a spot. They certainly were not young prospects that wowed them during camp and beat someone else out.

I don't remember LOC being expected to make the team when he entered camp. Again, I get why you have this view, I just don't think it is quite as dire for the young guys as you make it out to be.

LOC was given a ton of opportunity after his lackluster debut; he was definitely a guy they planned on having on the team. Why would anyone be confident they'd let young players on the team after they just traded Newhook, an NHL regular with two 30+ point seasons under his belt?

So sad, from cup champions to bubble playoff team in 2 years, has to be one of the worst collapses in recent history.

Kiviranta isn’t the answer he is practically a negative offensive player(one time breaking 10pts in a season) doesn’t play center and I honestly was puzzled by his PTO considering they traded for Olofsson. But who knows.

They're throwing darts and the dart board and I don't blame them one bit. The proven guys are likely hoping for more money that we won't give. This is a wildcard of a training camp and a wildcard of a season. Should be exciting.

Bubble? Do you know what "bubble" means? They won their division last season and will contend again this year.

That's why it's a sad fall from the #1 team in the league to barely even making the playoffs assuming you do somehow sneak in.

Your first line

AHLer - Star - 2nd liner
? - Nashville paid $4 to NOT have him - Star
4th liner - 3C - AHLer
4th liner - AHLer - AHLer

#2 D - #1D
#4D - #6D
#7D - #6D

Average starter

This isn't the world beating team you had 2 years ago.

Assuming Toronto is:
Bertuzzi- Matthews-Nylander
Domi- Tavares- Marner
Knies- Kampf - Jarnkrok
Lafferty- Holmberg - Reaves

Rielly - Brodie
McCabe - Klingberg
Gio - Lili

Then that is a better team
2nd liner - Star - Star
3rd liner - Star - Star
3rd liner - 3rd liner - 3rd liner
3rd liner - 3rd liner - AHLer

#2D -#2D
#4D -#5D
#5D -#4D

Average tending.

If Rielly plays like a #1 which he did in the playoffs last year then the Leafs are significantly better.

No way you’re calling Byram a #4 dman and Girard a #6 dman but Brodie a #2 dman. Byram is a top 4 dman who’s only getting better. Girard is a top 4 dman. Brodie is aging and looked awful in the playoffs. Byram and Girard would both probably be the Leafs best dman, seeing as Rielly is a complete defensive liability and his offensive play has regressed a lot (outside of the very small sample size in the playoffs)

But if the Leafs roster is so good every year, why are they such colossal failures in the playoffs?

When he's been called up and GMCM says he expects him to make a push, ya its safe to assume he gets some games in the middle 6

I mean I don't disagree with the opinion that we tend to not give young guys a chance, but the closer we get to camp the more likely it is that this exact thing will have to happen.
