Swap Timmins with Lilly. Even if that means dropping the pick a few rounds. Timmins is not good enough, and Carolina need a RD back. Klingberg does exactly what Burns and DeAngelo do. Lilly would have to come back.

Toronto should not be the one adding the 1st round pick in this.
Carolina fans have also said that Pesce is their only true defensive dman. So if they trade a dman it wouldn't/shouldn't be Pesce. He is the one that I would personally want though,

Erm... no, Pesce is not the only true defensive D man... he's the only RD that knows what happens in his own zone. That's the problem. I love Burns, I don't want him defending ever. TDA thinks playing defense will mean the government can track him and read his thoughts or something because he's slightly insane. Slavin is a DFD, Orlov is good defensively, and Skjei can be an adventure, but he's fine. Pesce is the only RD that can do it. This makes Skjei 10000 times more likely to be the one that moves

A package including Slavo would need Matthews coming back, I think we can all agree here... if Pesce's moving, there's going to be a RD competent at both ends coming back. From Buffalo, I've done ACGM's for Joki, for Toronto, I'd guess it's Lilly. Same kind of mould as Joki, same kind of skillset, not far off in terms of age, and both can do a little bit of everything. I don't think Nylander works for Carolina as the premier return piece because a right-hand side of Burns, DeAngelo and Chatfield is terrifying for all the wrong reasons. While Nylander strengthens the forwards, the entire reason Carolina would move Pesce is to not lose him for nothing. Losing Nylander for nothing just moves the problem from a RD to a RW...

I still think the best option is Nylander and Lily for Pesce and Jarvis. BUT Carolina would need to be certain they can get a Nylander extension done to make this trade.

Nylander extends 9.5m x 8 years with Caorlina
Pesce extends 6.5m x 8 years with Toronto

I think both teams get exactly what they need.

Even if Nylander was extended, Carolina says no the second you mention Jarvis. Jarvis has the potential to straight up be better. It's not worth the long term pain. Necas and Jarvis for Nylander are non-starters. Its like the Canes saying Knies should be on the table for Teravainen. It's a majorly drugged up version of the same deal. Jarvis is better than Knies and Nylander is better than Teravainen, but the principle is the same.
