Their captain is 34. Nylander, being 7 years younger, will still be good by the time the Sharks are ready to compete for the playoffs, which should be in a few years.

San José accepts guys, Couture is good but wont be when they want the team to turn around. Also, they will get more than the equivalent of 2 late 1st for Nylander at 50% retention. So it’s a win for San José and it also works for Toronto considering Couture is a playoff performer

Futures are more important to a rebuilding Sharks. They traded away Meier and he is younger than Nylander... Just doesn't make any sense unless you're a leafs fan
