If they would like good young players I bet they would- former 1st round pick who is now ready to be the FT NHL DMan, and a high 2nd Rd Pick who is big and can score, plus a 2nd round kicker- I bet they would consider it, IF they want younger players for Pesce..
Broberg, as of right now, would be the 5th LHD on the depth charts behind Slavin, Orlov, Skjei, and Jones. He is on not ahead of NB who is on a PTO, more than likely just for the 1 preseason split squad game. Even if the Canes were to let Skjei and Jones walk in the off-season, he would still be rotting on the 3rd pair, assuming the Canes don’t make any other moves or Chatfield takes that spot, or he would be rotting in the AHL. He simply doesn’t have any value to the Canes. And again, using draft position as a reason for his value is just plain ignorant. As for Lavoie, the same reasoning above for Broberg applies here. He isn’t cracking the Canes roster, and with the RW depth the Canes have in the pipeline, he would be hard pressed to get top playing time in the AHL. Lavoie doesn’t have much value to the Canes either. The most valuable piece to the Canes in this offer is the 2nd rounder, and that simply won’t cut it.
If Broberg is still worth a 1st, the same logic applies with Ryan Suzuki and D. Bokk. The Canes aren’t going to complete downgrade their roster for a set of futures that will end up have virtually no impact on the roster.
