I agree this trade probably doesn't happen. But "bottom feeder" Chicago has some promising prospects and a foundation to begin building a team around.

That could be a rejuvenating environment to go to for veteran players..

Chicago is still a season or two away from adding pieces like this but dont sleep on the impact that Bedard will have on UFA and veteran players coming to Chicago.

Even if Dallas was willing to trade them, and Seguin and Suter both waived, no chance the Hawks take on over $13m in cap hit for the next 2 seasons, plus the extra 2 years of Seguin at almost $10m, for a pair of 1st's. Takes way more coming from Dallas. Seguin hasn't played up to that contract since the day he signed it.

Bad for both sides imo. And I doubt either player would agree to it. I feel like Segs is gonna build on his comeback having a play driver like Duchene on his line and Suter is a cheap buyout if he continues to regress. Nill values both players and both guys want the cup in Dallas. He didn’t buyout Surer because he’s still our third best dman at a reasonable cap hit rn. If the Esa-Nils pairing can do its best to be a lite version of 2015 Esa-Klinger, Suter becomes our fifth best and possibly a buyout next year. Tho it could depend on when Bichsel is ready as I get the impression they like the idea of a Bichsel-Miro future top pair. I love me some Harley-Miro tho.
