I'd say Bertuzzi would be a pretty good add for the Devils.

Mercer already has more value than nylander though? He's way younger, already has two excellent nhl seasons under his belt, is 10x cheaper, and under team control for several more years. So his next contract will also be way cheaper.
I would think you'd have to drop the devils 1st round pick and add knies in the deal with nylander if you want to get mercer

About as comical as your trade proposal lol. Basically just swapping 1st/2nd line wingers. But the devils give up a 1st round pick and have to either a) pay nylander 10x what mercer makes or b) give up two prime assets to get marginally better for one single season.

If Nylader had a few more years left on his current deal then maybe the trade would work 1 for 1. But otherwise this is a clear loss for NJ

If Jersey is spending big money on anything- its going to be on a goalie. Mercer is going to be much cheaper for the next few years than Nylander will, and with all the extensions NJ has signed lately, another expensive forward isnt in the cards.
