Would surprise me if they miss the playoff. Last year they got hot in the right moment and gained so much momentum over that comeback over Boston. This year all the eastern team are good( i think Mtl and Philadelphia will have a hard time). Ottawa had one of the beat record in second half of the season. Buffalo was right there. Both team got significantly better and older.

I know it sounds like a homer take but if I'm paying Petry 5M$ to play somewhere else, I'm looking to get something better than a two years removed 2nd rounder. Is he prime Petry? Of course not but is he one of the best right handed veteran defender you can get for -presumably- under 2.5M$ for 2 playoff runs? There's an argument to be had there and most of fans seems to have forgotten how valuable cap space has been lately.
