Heh. That roughly 11-13M isn't just found cap space. Those 7-8 players need to be replaced and replacements take up cap space.
I'm aware.
As I stated prior, in my previous post, it is wholey dependent on who they want to bring back. Beyond just Lindholm.
And it's 5-6 roster spots. Not 7-8.
Additionally, $11M of that estimated total, is from 4 current players contracts. Zuccarello, Foligno, Fleury, and Hartman. So it's easier to replace them then one would initially think.
Even IF Zuccarello is brought back, it's likely on a cheaper 1-2 year $3-4M contract given his age. So Minnesota is saving some money there.
Foligno may be brought back, but again, it'll likely be on a reduced amount too given his age.
Hartman is getting a rather significant pay raise, but it's probably not coming from Minnesota as he'll have priced himself out of staying here.
Fleury is either likely retiring, or signing somewhere else. He's not coming back. Not with the emergence of Gustavsson as Minnesota's starter and Wallstedt probably pushing for NHL playing time in 24-25.
Which brings me to the final point.
ELC's and league minimum deals. Between using those and certain players coming back for likely less, plus a probable cap increase of $4M, it's not unreasonable to think it could work. Sure, it may be tight. But it's certainly doable.
