Description
Marchessault is apparently being shopped. Could a trade like this work?
Transactions
MTL
  1. Marchessault, Jonathan
  2. Roy, Nicolas
Détails additionnels:
Who gives more here?
Marchessault is apparently on the fritz with coach. He's UFA. He's good though.
Anderson could be a great replacement for the playoffs. Problem is Mtl needs size still.
Nicolas Roy would probably have to come back for a smaller Centerman. I'm assuming you don't want Dvorak, so Evans could be better.
What's missing? A b-level prospect? A mid-level pick?
If you're in the 'Anderson is worthless' camp, you can just pls move along no problem 😀

Anderson isn't worthless... he's a 2.5 million dollar player making 5.5 with term

He's not worth the 1st 50% retained bc going from a severe cap dump to a near worth asset doesn't put their value on the other spectrum

This is a Bad take! While I would love Vegas to take this as a Sharks fan even if you add a 1st and a good prospect (Mailoux likely) even then Vegas might not accept.

Roy is at least as good as Anderson and is 3m X 4 years compared to Anderson's 5.5m X 4. Vegas keeps the better players for this season and having more cap flexibility when Marchessault is UFA in summer of 2024.

Well, I don't really agree Roy = Anderson. Anderson is constantly put down by people because he plays on the top line in Mtl when he's a 2d line player. He is played above is ideal slot.
Not sure how you could say Roy is better when he plays against bottom pairing D and produces less offense.
But Ill admit ofc he's much better than Evans.
When considering Marchessault's age, I see an advantage for VGK to get Anderson who is much younger and plays heavier.

Marchy is a UFA next year. Just wait and pay nothing. Unlikely a team can match what Montreal offers otherwise there is Nylander, etc. Anderson is still needed on this team. Literally nobody available next year can replace his game. Spare me the cliches cf

Hoffman was somehow dealt for value. Anything is possible but he looks to be immovable along with Gallagher. Armia probably gets put on re-entry waivers early in the year otherwise is a buyout in 2024. Gallagher is destined for LTIR before he honors his contrat.

Depends on what you are adding onto him for Winnipeg to take him back.

Evans is miscast. He's a 4th line center that can contribute on the penalty kill. Makes too much money tho for his production. Tough to move.

Anderson is the most misunderstood player on this site by trolls that have never put on skates.

I would suggest you look at Roy's stat...including his defensive stats. How can even suggest Anderson is better. Gee, by your own statement Anderson has been playing top line minutes, and he's still not offensively that productive. Imagine how his stats would go down if he was a second liner (though depending on the team, it's not that much difference)
The reason Anderson is "put down" is overpaid for what he does. That's not putting dow Anderson, it was the contract offered to him, so why wouldn't he sign it? It's the GM at the time that should " put down"

The advantage to Vegas is they keep Roy, and next since they can replace 5m Marchessault with an another player. Anderson at 5.5m just isn't good value, and 3m Roys is..

Armia is going to the AHL where he belongs. Laval can use him, maybe.

are you just going to look at stats man? Line match-ups. Thats a real thing. Nic Roy spends his entire career playing against the Kulaks and Desharnais dmen while Anderson plays against top pairs like Reilly, Seider, etc every night. It's not the same. There is more to it than stats. Plus Nic Roy is a center. Centermen naturally have better defensive stats due to their position. You're comparing apples to oranges mate

Trolling? I’m not a fan of either team, just looking unbiased and your offering up players you know Montreal wouldn’t resign if they are FA for 2 from Vegas you know you would if they were available.

But hot take looks like no Vegas fan on here agrees with you and most agree with me! Sorry but this isn’t a reasonable

This is one of the worst MTL VGK trades I’ve seen on here and that’s saying something.

Marshy isn’t being shopped. Stop it

Are you saying that the teams have no control over matchup. Tosay Roy plays his entire career bottom enders is just a fantasy . By any standard Anderson is overpaid considerably.
