Quoting: SomeonesOffended
Caps would definitely do that trade if you think not you’re delusional
There are multiple problems here so I’ll fill you in.
1. William Nylander does not fit the needs of a team entering a rebuild.
2. Nylander is on record asking for $10M on an extension. The Capitals will not trade the assets required for Nylander so that they can pay him $10M. No Thanks.
3. Nylander has no history of playoff success or any notable success at any level in his career. He doesn’t have any track record that he can rely on to teach young players to be good Pros.
4. The bottom-line is the Capitals are not going to be aggressive in bidding for Nylander, they have no reason to be.
5. The Capitals are not going to trade Tom Wilson and are on record as wanting to extend him and keep him for the rebuild.
6. The Capitals 2023 1st Rd Pick was a Lottery Pick, the Capitals aren’t trading any future 1sts for a while. I’m not risking a potential Lottery Pick that William Nylander will produce as well on the 8th worst team in the League as he did on the 4th best team in the League.
Leaf fans need to get it in their heads, the Capitals are not going to trade Tom Wilson for William Nylander and they are certainly not going to add a 1st. The Capitals do not want Nylander that bad. It has nothing to do with what you think these players are worth, the Capitals are not going to make this trade.
