The Pens trade seems fair. Swap two underachievering players and a Vet D to fill a void from Letang. If Letang doesn't resign in pit Montreal would definitely be his first choice. He wants 4 or more years on his contract

Detroit 3rd for Pettersson is fair I think.
I would prefer getting a prospects in trades because the Pens don't have much. I know Pettersson's not worth a blue chipper but a mid level one or someone that maybe isn't living up to their potential.

Pettersson's worth is a early to mid 3rd maybe a very very late 2nd. In my opinion the pens should try for older prospects in trades. So I agree with you.
