Lafferty never seemed to find his fit in Toronto, there were times he looked lost, was not trusted on the PK even tho he tied the league in short handed goals (4), and picked up just three goals in the 28 games including his playoffs. You also have McMann and Holmberg who both look like potentially more exciting alternatives, with McMann bringing some energy that the Leafs might desire on their fourth line and Holmberg coming with a lot more versatility and upside than the older two options.

Timmins showed real promise with 14 points in 25 games as a Leaf last season. His shot is a legitimate weapon that the team went out of their way to tee up. He’s 6’2, a right-handed shot, moves well on the ice, and has legitimate skill with the puck. There is a reason he was drafted 32nd overall. The ability is there if he can stay healthy and string games together. He will be turing 25 years old this season.
