who would the jets get for another C

Description
if the jets are making one last push for playoffs with this core then they need to address the centre depth because scheif/perfetti/namestnikov/lowry is a little sad considering the talent at other positions. especially when they have cap space/assets to get someone who can play 2/3C if needed. here are my thoughts for centres that might be available. let me know what you think about the probability, prices and who you’d want.
toews may never play because of his health but would be a nice storyline and maybe he can teach scheifele how to take faceoffs lol

obviously not as realistic as pageau and probably less likely to waive but would be nice. islanders have centre depth but hes definitely be harder to pry out of long island

i believe he played a bit more wing than centre last season but could fill in on the third line and pittsburgh needs to shed salary so they might pay as well

probably doesn’t waive for winnipeg but hes asked for a trade before and washington is capped out. not really sure what his value would be depending on the direction the caps go in

Odd man out coming out of camps possibly, maybe some waiver wire shopping, I still love the buy low on sillinger with the fantilli pick and some other guys jumping ahead of him on the depth chart. Would love some youth and team control project, but would also be interesting if there’s a decent reclamation project and shine a player up to gain some more picks or youth later in the year, if it’s not a playoff year.

Schmaltz doesn't really play any center, is just a winger at this point apparently and with the way his contract is structured the Jets passed on trying to acquire him once before already.

Factoring in trade protection some of the guys here have, availability and acquisition costs I'd say the only guy who might be had from this list would be Granlund. I'd be fine with taking a flyer on him, think he'd rebound on the Jets with Ehlers and Nino but I'm likely the only Jets fan here that'd feel that way, he wasn't good in Pittsburgh but was on pace for a 50 point season in Nashville prior to the trade.

I just don't see Perfetti being a center in the NHL and while I like Namestnikov I'm doubtful he could be a 2C for an entire season and feel that another center should be brought in if possible even if it's a lower end 2C.

Ultimately I think Chevy is done for this offseason aside from signing the remaining RFA's the Jets have.

Rags, Isles and preds don't consider at all.

CGY maybe but i think they're looking to get a haul back.

Pens definitely would, they need cap space

Yotes.. maybe i think they move him at TDL though.

Kuz I feel like might get moved. The caps apparently noted they were going to shed cap in their top 6 and the internet seems to think it's him, but I would bet they would work to trade him somewhere that not only wants him but that he wants to go.

yeah probably the same boring as usual, but then again that’s what makes ACGMs so fun. id also be surprised if CBJ gave up on sillinger since they also lack quality centers

What I don’t understand with Buffalo or Columbus is, you both have kids a year and half out from taking the reigns full time in your crease, why not audition helly for a year, not overly care if he extends, and worst case you got cap to go buy if you need too. Get out from under Comrie or Elvis contracts and reallocate a little. Obviously price might be an issue, but a veteran guy like helly to watch for the kids has to be priceless.

Chytil would cost much more than you said. There's other ways for us to get out of the cap situation.

Glass likely starts in the 1-3C range but it is kindof hard to tell with ROR and Novak. Novak is defensively iffy and bad at faceoffs so i see him better suited at wing but he has good offensive instincts. ROR has been more of a 2/3C the past couple seasons. Depending on what Brunette wants to do with Novak and ROR i could see Glass anywhere from 1C to 3C. Brunette runs a top 9 type structure so i think itll matter less
