Canucks aren’t trading their franchise goalie while also taking on Rielly’s awful contract. Easy pass

Surprising 🤔, as a Canucks fan i’d think you’d know all about awful contracts 😂 but clearly not. Sammy just put up better numbers than Demko (overrated) but we’ll trade him and add our best defenseman who just lit up the playoffs. Nah … pass

Franchise goalie? Is there that much difference between Samsonov and Demko? Reilly isn't a bad contract at all. Besides Reilly would have no desire to waive to the Canucks....Vancouver maybe, Canucks no.

Let’s injure Samsonov, put him in front of an AHL defense group and see how is numbers suffer. Calling Demko overrated tellls me you’ve never actually watched a Canucks game. He is the reason the Canucks don’t have multiple lottery picks in the last few years

We agree that the Canucks are basically an ahl team but as far as the the rest, gimme a break: Injury 🙄, not a huge believer in advanced stats but helpful in situations like this: saves above expected per 60, Sammy = 0.436, Demko = -0.182; WAR, Sammy = 3.01, Demko = - 0.91

Yes injury. One huge flaw with the Canucks medical staff is playing guys with injuries. Boeser until he was shut down. Mikheyev literally was playing with a torn MCL until he was shut down. Demko was playing through a lingering injury until his breaking point. Of course his numbers are going to be bad. Goalie is one of the most athletically dependant positions. If you watched him at all, you could see that Demko’s lower body was stiff as a plank of wood to start the year. Why don’t you use the numbers when he was healthy? Oh yeah, because it wouldn’t fit your narrative

Demko at 5v5
20/21: .925 SV%, 6.67 GSAA, 7.89 GSAx
21/22: .933 SV% (3rd best), 26.42 GSAA (1st), 19.81 GSAx (3rd)
22/23: .920 SV%, 4.43 GSAA, 7.14 GSAx
22/23 after return from injury: .930 SV%, 7.72 GSAA, 8.22 GSAx

Samsonov at 5v5
20/21: .911 SV%, -2.38 GSAA, -4.61 GSAx
21/22: .903 SV%, -11.41 GSAA, -10.07 GSAx
22/23: .926 SV%, 11.22 GSAA, 17.44 GSAx

And yes, Rielly is a bad contract. He’s a defensive liability whose offense dropped significantly this year. Using an 11 game sample size from the playoffs doesn’t change that

Injured during the reg season, just like Demko., l& playoffs are the most important sample dude. Too bad the game isn’t played at just 5v5 or in the dreamland on the west coast. Maybe the Canucks could actually make the playoffs 😏

The majority of the game is played at 5v5. Even if you do all situations, Demko was far ahead in 2020/21 and 2021/22 despite the fact that the Canucks have had a historically bad PK and a terrible d corps outside of Hughes

And if playoffs are the most important sample, are Bob and Hill the best goalies in the league? Is Marchessault better than Matthews and Marner?

Facts from a canuckle fan 😂. I gave you facts, better sv%, better expected goals saved above expected, better gaa, better pretty much everything. Here’s another fact - one playoff in eight years, soon to be nine 🤫

I gave you the facts that Demko plays much better and has a better GSAx, GSAA, and a better career SV%. Here’s another fact - one playoff series win in 19 years, soon to be 20 🤫

Convince who? A bunch of deluded canuckle hams? The same chimps that thought you’d win the pacific last year 😂? By any metric Sammy had a much better year than Demko ; I’d be the better goalie 🤷🏻, time will tell. But trading Sammy and Morgan Reilly for a goalie not named Vasilevsky or shisterskin or saros is straight up crazy town

Once again, I showed you multiple metrics that showed Demko wasn’t far off this year despite being injured and playing on a far worse team, and was significantly better the last two seasons, while also having a better career SV% and having a significantly better playoff SV% yet you’re choosing to ignore it because of your bias

What better metric is there than goals saved above expected per 60? Or wins above replacement ? Or (total) sv%? Sammy won them all hands down last year
