Pointless for us

Loved Cogliano 10 years ago, now he is one more injury away from the end of his Iron Man career. The Sabres don’t seem to be looking for veteran third and fourth line guys right now anyway.

Cogs is a superhuman that takes injuries like a pro and loves to win... something the sabres don't much Well that could have true when Jack Eichel was on the team, but the Sabres started playing much better from March 2022 to the end of last season, 58-42-10
Let's be candid here,
first, Jost is a worth more than his pure statistics.
When he joined Casey and Henri, the third line started producing nearly 2 pts per game.
Second, with Savoie, Kulich and Benson in the wings, Olofsson, Girgensons, Okposo and Jost will be cap casualties soon.
Okposo will finish his career as a Sabre but Jost and Olofsson could be traded at the TDL.
Third, Cogliano could be a real asset on the Sabres PK.
He had nearly double of the PK time of any Sabre, and blocked more shots than any Sabre forward.
Fourth, the Sabres add a third round pick, that could lead to a player in their prospect pool.
Fifth, which was over looked, he has 120 games of NHL playoff experience.
Most important, if Pegula got wind of this trade and KA did not take it, Terry would fine him $1,175,000, the difference between Jost and Cogliano salary.
