why trade so many players for seventh round picks, they're useless. I also don't see Lavoie cracking the top 9, and a karlsson trade isn't worth it when we have and need to resign bouchard.

First Bouchard gets WAY more! Think 3-4 years 4.5-5.5 mil.
2nd is you want Karlsson at 50% retained Bouchard and both 1sts is the starting point.
Karlsson zero retention is worth a late 1st retaining over 20 mil gets us the 2nd 1st plus Bouchard.

Just don’t think Oilers are a landing spot anymore with his emergence, plus the Elkholm trade got you a better fit defensively anyways.

"Might"? He's 33. He never once had a season anywhere near 22-23 even in his prime. And he never will again. So that's a MASSIVE overpay for Karlsson's waning years.

Foegele scored at 1st line rates at 5v5 last year, Edmonton isn't trading him for a couple of late round picks. So don't worry, your team will still stink next season and you can expect another lottery pick.

You right the reigning Norris winner and 1st to get 100+ points in 30 years is far less valuable than a kid who had his 1st good season. Dude you’re dreaming. I’ll concede for a rebuilding team I would opt for Bouchard’s upside but Karlsson at less than 6 a season is a far better option for a cup contender.

Awesome! Foegle doesn't have positive value for Hawks. And the bums included in the deal still have no value. So seems like both sides don't want this deal.

Trading Bouchard for Karlsson doesn't make sense because it shortens Edmonton's window drastically. I can see why San Jose would want to make that trade but it's not good business for Edmonton.

And that's completely ignoring the fact that Karlsson's has basically zero chance of repeating his 22-23 season. He's 33 years old, nobody wants his last 4 years without retention for free even but retaining 50% suddenly makes him worth one of the best 23-year-old defensemen ++? You are living in an alternate reality, my friend.

You and I see things different, Though I won’t argue that Bouchard has more future upside. That being said, he will never come close to Karlssons offensive prowless.
If you think Oilers have 10 years of cup contender status this is a bad idea, if you think it’s only 3-4 years then Karlsson makes more sense.

Karlsson is all downhill from here. And there are signs that Bouchard is already as good offensively... in 21-22, the 22 year old Bouchard posted better 5v5 P/60 than the 32 year old Karlsson.

And once he got handed the keys to the 1st unit late this past season Bouchard's power play totals skyrocketed. He was 7th in the league for PP points in the last 20 games (tied with Karlsson) and then went supernova in the playoffs. He was the highest scoring defenseman in the playoffs by far despite playing only 2 rounds.

We're not talking about a prospect here. Bouchard is proven to be one of the best offensive defensemen in the league already.

Saying the hawks will get a lottery pick next season as if it's a diss? That's literally the goal for next season.
