PLD is a center and for the most part teams don't trade young centers that are as good as he is. Realistically he will probably be LA's 1C when Kopitar retires in 3yrs. So comparing that trade to DeBrincat trade doesn't work. There are far more scoring wingers than there are centers with the potential to become a #1C.

I'd agree with that if Dubois scored more than Cat throughout his career. Is Debrincat not a #1 LW/RW? Has Dubois scored more than 30 goals and 70 pts in any given season? Given what Meier got from NJ and where Bratt lands, I think the comparable is fair.

The only 3 players to outscore Cat in his draft class are Mathews, Tkachuk(LW/RW) and Laine(RW/LW). Dubois comes in 6th behind Keller, another winger, with 70 points less than Cat.

This way less than what Dubois got for a way better player. Change the second to the best first they have and it’s fair

Maybe, but even I think that's a bit rich for a guy that won't play anywhere else and won't fetch nearly as much from another team.

He will play elsewhere. He just won’t play in Ottawa. So they have leverage. They could easily get Boston first + Kasper from Detroit

Vilardi is better than any player in this trade and Iafallo is better than Kubalik.

That is what I am saying. For me any trade with Detroit start with an A prospect (ASP, Danielson, Kasper, Edvinsson) and Boston first

Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Doesn’t change the fact that none of those 4 will be moved for DeBrincat.

Ok but a #1C is the most coveted position in the NHL, Not every team has a #1C and that is why 99% of the time these players don't get traded. Most hockey fans will tell you the only way to get a #1C is through the draft. So how many goals he scored while playing for a team he didn't want to be on in the first place is pretty much inconsequential. For the 1st time in his career he will be playing for a team that he wants to be on and because of that he will probably finish in the top 10 for scoring in the upcoming season.

Debrincat is a top 6 scoring winger but as I said before scoring winger are far more common than #1Cs and you helped prove my point. The 3 players to out score Debrincat are all wingers. Debrincat scored 27 goals last season and I think around 30 goals a season is going to be the norm moving forward. He was playing with Kane in both of his 40g seasons and Kane is on another level when it comes to setting players up. I wouldn't pay this much for Debrincat If this was the lowest you'd accept for him I understand. Detroit with Debrincat or Detroit and no Debrincat it doesn't I'm good with it either way.

Kasper look a decent 2c for future. Debrincat is a top line 40 goals scorer. You have to give to get

Again, point I’m making is those 4 plus a first won’t be moved. Fairly easy to tell if I’ll be right or wrong.

They might not be moved, but they should. Detroit biggest weakness is offensive talent and they have a surplus of defensive player. Debrincat is an offensive player and losing Kasper shouldn’t hurt that much. Ottawa will wait until they get a suffisent offer. And guess what is their biggest need (at least I think) : Defensive forward and RD

Hopeful for him, his WJC was great. He just had no shot beating out the LD in Detroit.

I think its a decision on one of the two firsts? Higher of the two unless one is top x protected. Not 100% sure on that though.

From what I understand, Detroit choose the pick they are sending. So it’s probably the lowest

You’re right, just saw it. Assuming Boston finishes with a top 10 pick, it goes back to them and their 2025 pick goes to Detroit. The Wings then decide if they send DET 2024 1st or BOS 2025 first.
