This is about as unrealistic as it gets.

TOR trade: pretty well established this just isn't a fit for either team at this point, dead horse here

CGY trade: not enough value for Hanifin and doubtful that they'd extend him for what he'll want

SJS trade: holy moly. No retention? Kochetkov? Just an awful trade for the Canes.

ANA trade: I know you were forced into this one at this point b/c you realized you have no cap space but what a waste. Turbo for a 2nd on value is probably fine if a team actually gave that to you (doubt they would coming off a down year w/ a year left at his cap hit, but whatever), but they need to hold onto their scoring depth and not sell low on a player. And the KK piece is a terrible idea - Canes aren't moving him in a move like this when they've invested a lot in him so far, he's started to show the promise they thought he had in the second half of last season and as that contract will start to provide a ton of value as the cap goes up. Just foolish.

Also Slavin 3rd pair is fun

Of course I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM, but I wouldn't believe it the first time I saw it.


Point production is not the only measure of value. Pesce will be easier to re-sign -- a LOT easier -- than Nylander, and Pesce at $5.25 million may be a better value than Nylander at $10.5 million (reported to be his current ask). Yes, Carolina would probably have to add, but not as much as you think.

Agree to disagree then. Most teams can find a Pesce type - a solid defensive dman (Leafs signed Brodie a few years back as FA & he’s been terrific). Also doubt Pesce will extend at $5.25M (estimates here between $6-7M). Much moloch more difficult find players that can pot 35-40 goals& ppg pace; unless you draft & develop they all cost $8M+, probably more now with cap rising significantly. Not exactly comparable but actually pretty close - no one would buy Brodie + 1st for Aho, so I have no idea why anyone would think Nylander for Pesce + 1st is reasonable.

Yeah Jarvis and Necas aren't going anywhere so I think it doesn't get done
